I hope it goes back to group A touring cars like from 1985 to 1992?

The V8 Supertaxi 2 car series has been a joke for a few years, basically NASCAR with both left and right turns, but with less "makes"

Bring back true competition racing with all makes and model racing like the old group A touring car "series"

Go to stealership and buy your car of choice, then just add safety kit, stickers, and a few regulated parts, just like the Toyota 86 series, and have your way with it

10, 8, 6, 4, 3 cylinder AWD, RWD, FWD, Turbo, NA

And unlike the days when Holden and Ford did actually manufacture here, they cannot spit the dummy and pressure CAMS via the government into changing the rules to kick out the other makes and models that were giving their sales teams at the local Holden and Ford stealerships a bloody nose

LOL....end rant

Holden hasn't raced there for years.

I'm really looking forward to Gen 3, while it's never going to the the same as manufacturer based racing it's probably as close as we are ever going to get to the good ol days.

Bugga ! Now I'm going to have to buy another 1:18 model 'last' Holden winner. :) Even if it is pretend Commodore over a SuperGoKart chassis.

They've been pretend commodores over go-kart chassis' for a while now.

The race lost my interest long ago. Once they stopped the "Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday" stuff.
That forced manufacturers to make better cars to win the races, and gave us the GT-HO, A9X, XU1 etc. The XU2 with the 308 would have been something special.

Anyway, at least a Holden badge won the race today.

I lost interest during the International Group A era.
Fred Nerk could not buy a Sierra, or a GTR off the showroom floor, and the Australian V8s were outclassed by $$$$, technology and handicaps.
My interest was sparked again by the 5.0L Group A, and over the ensuing years I have adjusted to the SuperGoKarts. Their speed, driver skill and teamwork has to be admired.
"Win on Sunday, sell on Monday" is well in the past, and will stay there. Different audience now to the GTHOs and Monaros. A lot of members on here would not have been born at the time.

I watched more of the race today than I've probably done in the last few years.

Unfortunately we will never see the days of the old style GRP 3 or GRP A rules again, safety just won't allow it.

Safety is fine if they follow typically rules and regs as the Toyota 86 series, basically standard cars with brakes and a full cage and fire system
