SuperCharge Battery in VK - One of those "DOH" moments

Mmm, not surprised. Super Cheeep (and Office Works for that matter) both use a lot of school kids in the staff and their knowledge, experience and care factor is often low. But good that they listened to you.

SuperCharge Battery in VK - One of those "DOH" moments

That's a damn good run from the Delco! And good value if the replacement lasts longer than 5 years. Some guy reckons, either here or another forum, that he replaces the batteries in his two work vehicles every 3 years, whatever condition they are in. IMO, that seems a bit asking for...

SuperCharge Battery in VK - One of those "DOH" moments

Sounds like you're in a fortunate situation when it comes to batteries. That is dirt cheap for a good quality brand. And smart move to avoid the SuperCharge. As per the whole theme of the original post, wish I had just not been so impulsive - there is no way I would have touched it if I'd...

SuperCharge Battery in VK - One of those "DOH" moments

But you must have, or have had, access to warehouse prices. The general public has to buy retail usually, which always means paying the middle-men. When you look up the "general rule" for CCA recommendations, it's usually given as 1 CCA per cube. So that means the old 202 would only need...

SuperCharge Battery in VK - One of those "DOH" moments

Delco Delkor - very similar names - are they totally different companies? And AC Delco used to make many of the Holden genuine parts in the earlier days. I assume the batteries are one of their divisions. Like Autolite was to Ford.

SuperCharge Battery in VK - One of those "DOH" moments

Yes The fellow at Battery World also asked about electrics possible causing a drain. Nothing has changed in the car except I pulled all the fuses out and checked the terminals and re-installed the fuses. Also swapped the headlight halogens around back to original. The RAC battery I bought...

Wise. Well worth the extra if it's in there trouble-free for many years.

SuperCharge Battery in VK - One of those "DOH" moments

Thanks for the post and info. I didn't get time to run around with it today (Thurs) but am going in tomorrow. It's a $250 battery that I got for $200-odd , I wouldn't say it was cheap but for the claimed CCA and Amps, and 4+ years warranty, I suppose it is suspiciously low priced. Then again...

SuperCharge Battery in VK - One of those "DOH" moments

Interesting to hear about your experiences. I didn't know that about Exide - glad I didn't get one. Listening to real people with real experiences is the only way to know really. Delco eh? Will keep that in mind and also Yuasa I think are pretty solid. SuperCharge are made in the...

SuperCharge Battery in VK - One of those "DOH" moments

The second hand RAC battery (580CCA) died in my VK and what a good one it was, over 8 years old. After a week of thinking about which brand battery to replace it with I was all set to get an Exide 630CCA 112RC* for $188 with 30 months warranty which I thought was pretty good pricing. Even...

Orig spec tyres for staggered 19" on S1 Redline Wagon

Sorry for long delay in replying. I finally got the tyres that were ordered from over East put on the new VF 9" rims last week. The Goodyear F1 Assymetric 3 - 275/35/19 are Made in Germany. Very happy to see that. They weren't cheap - $538 each (F&B of course) and I don't think they charged...

Orig spec tyres for staggered 19" on S1 Redline Wagon

Thanks for the heads up on that. I hope I don't get a shock as I have already ordered the Eagle F1 (Assymetric 3) !! I was going off a US website about tyres and where they were made, the US author was having a bit of a rant (and good on him I say) . I will try to find it again to see if I...

Orig spec tyres for staggered 19" on S1 Redline Wagon

Good experience to hear about from a Redline Wagon owner. But that's a lot of tyres in only 43k. Well seems to me anyway. Haven't heard of the Pilot Sports but just looked em up and see they are Michelin. I think they should last a bit longer. Hope so.

Orig spec tyres for staggered 19" on S1 Redline Wagon

Will do. But they are also unavailable here too (Perth). BJTM said they won't have them until the NY. So I might look at other brands like the PS45s. I would just prefer to give my money to the US rather than china. I know it sounds pedantic but that's me. Goodyear are one of only a few...
