Trying to get a short answer about how to attack this. Searched and searched and cant find any info on doing this anywhere.
From what I can see from the top I'll need to remove/ try and move the fuse box out of the way to even get down there to see how it's attached. Either that or possibly...
Thanks for that - my fault turned out to be a fried ECU. I sourced another Delco Unit from Ebay and Trevor from holdendiagnostics.co.nz transferred the VIN data etc and reloaded the operating system and bingo.
Thanks Steve - I'll check that although i think my fault is a little different to yours, Battery voltage doesn't decrease when attempting to crank and also my ECU isn't able to be queried via the OBD2 port whereas the Transmission and Fuel Pump modules are.
I'll make another post and see if...
The ELM software is happy to use an ELM327 bluetooth adapter, i guess that's why they called it Software on ELM street.
I'm going to assume that because the software can query the Transmission and Fuel Pump control modules that it is connected ok.
What id really like now is some idea of how to...
Tried this software which seems pretty good https://forums.justcommodores.com.au/threads/software-on-elm-street-obd2-engine-diagnostic-software.243045/
But get...
Ok, so this might be my shitty little ELM327 adapter or the software im (OBD Auto Doctor Free on Windows) using but i dont seem to be able to query or view the Engine Management Controller or DME or whatever its called.
I can see the Transmission and Fuel Pump but nothing else!
Also I can hear...
I've misplaced my cheapo Holden Scan tool - so have just bought an ELM327 bluetooth OBDII reader... just figuring out how it works and the best software to use. I'll go and try it shortly.
Possibly, although I'm not aware of that process to comment. It does sound like its coming from that area and if there isnt an electrically operated valve or solenoid where ive placed the red arrow on the photo then its likely its coming from the throttle body.
Is this a known issue? Would it...
ok, battery changed. i borrowed a big heavy duty one (700cca) and no change.
Relay R13 (Pwr/Trn) clicking rapidly with ignition turned on
Clicking coming from top of engine (sounds like a valve opening and closing rapidly as its kind of metallic)
The red arrows show where the clicking noise is...
just for clarity, it's not the same starter solenoid click that you get when the battery is discharged... the engine will crank fine and start, but stop after running lumpy for maybe 5 seconds then not crank again or restart until being left overnight. with the ignition on, the power train...
