My vs sIII ute was the same, in the end it turned out my key housing was cracked enough it wouldnt contact the metal rings around the barrel. I bodgied it up with some glue and never had an issue again.

Reading further on I see that vs utes rear track are 1478mm the same as a vn sedan's, is there a good chance I can pinch the axle from my donor car (for another project) and run that axle without stressing anything?
