Engine parts and tune cost me about 5 grand. Still haven't gotten around to dyno-ing it. I'm looking at selling it actually, I've recently bought an FG.
Alright I had already bought another second hand alternator so this arvo I replaced the alternator, and the charge cable at once. Voltage drop is now 0.01 volts. That's more like it.
However, the voltage across the battery terminals is only about 14.4 volts, which then drops to around 14 as...
The alternator on my VS was only putting out 13.8v. Obviously it was failing to charge the battery fast enough for normal commuting. So I replaced the rectifier (I believe) on the back and it was then charging at over 14v. After a few drives it's back down to 13.3v. Something is not right, but...
This is different to normal ceramic coating. Some sort of insulation applied to the inside of the pipes apparently. I've never heard of it personally. He also mentioned that internal modifications exacerbate the problem, which sounds logical.
I just had a reputable exhaust shop have a listen. He thinks the top end sounds great and the tick is the sound of the gasses in the extractors. He gave me a number of a guy who does ceramic insulation on the inside of the pipes. Apparently it makes a world of difference. If I get that done i'll...
Well as long as 2 turns is not risking bottoming out the lifters i'll just leave it and send the bastard to the exhaust shop. The car has landed on the extractors going over speed humps so maybe there's a crack that they could find.
By hand tight I mean nipping it up with a short handle Allen key. But it 2 turns sounds excessive, i'll have to recheck the exact amount of turns because I wasn't sure what the torque specification is on YT ultralites. Does anyone know?
I have noticed that the engine is now very smooth while...
Ok I put in a new set of Crow lifters and nothing has changed, when I first tightened up the rockers with the new lifters I counted 2 full turns from zero lash to hand tight (25 Nm?). I'm not entirely sure what the torque spec is on those YT cap screws but either way i'm looking at around 2...
Of course new is ideal. But old mate sounded like he was in a hurry, and local stores may not have them in stock. Sensors from a wrecker are a sure find, and would get him out of trouble.
You need some MAF/contact cleaner to clean the MAF sensor. Super cheap auto sell that. Simply unscrew the maf sensor and spray the hell out of the insides with the cleaner. See if that clears up the errors. If 76 remains you have have screwed the oxy sensors which you would be best to get from a...
The other one is 24502846. Just ordered both of them. I figured for the sake of 12 bucks I dont want to risk the RTV blowing out and dumping the coolant.
