personally if i had a modern vehicle that was a garage queen it would not be connected to a power source, it would be isolated. the li battery will still discharge but at a much slower rate so for a storage option it could be a better solution but for normal use a li battery is just not needed.

Look for cracks in the housing, check the rubber o-ring. They fog up when you get water ingress and after a while it will damage the reflector which will require a replacement unit.

In the pictures i posted you will see the control buttons on each side of the wheel. They are button modules and can be removed from the wheel. The wiring harness can also be removed. It is those parts that are specific to the trim variant of the vehicle.

seems like a silly question but while you have a route active have you turned the volume knob up? normally with functions like this the volume knob will switch modes depending what is active and the voice guidance function could simply be just turned down.

the module they are referring to would be the bcm. a sparkie would have checked the fuses and relays and i guess he tested for output to the relays and fuses which is why he suspects the bcm. it could be a software issue or it could need the bcm replaced, you will need to take it to a dealer...

while i dont know about this specific feature i can say typically with gm things like this are usually switched off programmatically in the bcm and require programming to make them work.
