    See ya guys and gals!

The time has come, sold the VE today! I’ll miss the beast but then it’s the same with every car I’ve had, they have never been anything other than an enthusiast car…Peugeot 205 GTI, 1994 version 1 WRX STI, (obligatory) NB MX-5 and now the SSV. I’ll miss the sound, the power…I feel like I could...

VE v8 Alternator Removal & Replacement

Just a note to say thanks for the write ups here! Just swapped out an alternator from Holmart and the only things I had to remove were the VCM OTR and temporarily I clip the power steering reservoir from its bracket, a little wigging and that sucker comes straight out! Would be even easier if my...

Paint code for VE SSV 19" Rim

The wheels don't seem to have a paint code - I have looked before. I think its just silver with no metallic and clear.

    Front end clunk

Front sway bar D shaped bushes. You can fit them on your drive through the engine bay and they are cheap. Its the first thing I would replace chasing a front end clunk because its easy. You cant tell they are knackered from looking at them necessarily. Replace them as I could not see it in your...

    VE Values

Hi all I was thinking of chopping my car or the missus' car (2013 PoloGTI) in for something a bit newer and SUV - there are a number of reasons for this please don't flame me! Which got me looking at values. It appears since I last looked a few years ago prices have gone up for equivalent...

    Alternator warning

So I had the alternator warning come up - it’s gone again now however I’m convinced that it will come back. No error codes with it. Checked charge rates in OBD2 and engineering mode. They look good. 14.5 whilst charging. 12.6-12.5 on battery when off. New ish battery. I now carry a trickle...

    Air conditioning struggles

Update - almost no gas. Pretty sure it’s got a leak, re-gassed for now as brother in law did it for free. At least it’s cold again - will see how long it lasts!

    Air conditioning struggles

I’m in Brisbane now so it’s really obvious the system is cactus. Luckily brother in law has his aircon ticket and all the kit so later today we are doing some investigation!

    Air conditioning struggles

Thanks for the advice guys - Its getting driven from Sydney to Brisbane just me in a week so wont have time to resolve it. It is blowing cold, just not ice cold... I'll give it a good blast and sort it if still an issue in the new year.

    Air conditioning struggles

This yielded zero result. So if they put fluorescent in the standard gas its not leaking obviously. I will have to run it a bit and see what happens.

    Air conditioning struggles

Ok - thanks for the info. I happen to have a little UV/black light torch. I think from what I see here there is dye in the gas which would show up where any leak is, so I think tonight I will break that out and see if I can see any leaks as a first.

    Air conditioning struggles

Hi all the recent 40 degree weekend saw my air con properly struggling. In comparison to my 2013 Polo GTI it is rendered as effective as a basic fan, recirculating or not, as opposed to cold. A little while ago the aircon light came on and I got it regassed which fixed the light. The belt is...
