The main peeve is, I need the remote to operate the whole telly.....Stuffed up idea that is....Wish I knew before buying it but it is what it is

Fortunately, I'm not stupid enough to buy a complete new telly, as tempting as it is.....A new remote is about $100 (give or take a few bucks).....A shed load cheaper than a new telly...
IR remotes are easy to test by pointing a remote at your phone with the camera app on. Then when pressing one of the remote buttons you’ll actually be able to see the IR beam emanating from your remote on your phone camera app.

Using such a method, you can test all buttons work on your remote and actually video any failures buttons.

Sometimes IR remote buttons stop working because some liquid may have made its way under the rubber button membrane and onto the circuit board and dismantling it and a clean using isopropyl alcohol will fix it. Sometimes the carbon contact fails on the rubber fingers on the button membrane itself but one can scrape the finger and cut and glue foil on it, that way electrical contact can be made and the button works again.

Obviously if the TV & remote is under warranty, or just outside warranty, take the issue back to the selling retailer and show them the failure video. Usually retailers should be able to sort you out on the spot.

If all that is too much effort, I wouldn’t pay $100 as, IR remotes cost less than a cup of coffee on eBay ;)

TV is well out of warranty......5 or 6 years old

Doing the phone appstuff is well outside my capalities, along with dismantling the remote....

Have bought those ebay remotes for other things in the house....Absolutely useless....

Will get some tv mob to fix it...

New bloody tv's....

The down volume button on the TV remote won't work and of course there is no other way to turn the volume down....

How stupid....Have to take it in and get it sorted during the week
I downloaded a remote to our TV onto my phone a few years ago. Not sure if you can still do it though with the newer TV's.

Might be able to but honestly that's well above my capabilities.....

Thanks for the tip though

I just typed in TV brand and model then download remote

The problem starts with the dill that owns the phone and learning how to connect it to the interweb.....I only know how to call, text, take photos and put them on my P/C. :) IMA, that took 6 months to learn...

I really do appreciate your input mate.....I'm going to get onto my niece and see what she can help with before it goes to the tv mob to be sorted....The advise on here has given made me realise to get her help first with this tech stuff, before the tv mob.

Just installed the software on my Windows 11 desktop and it works. Installed the correct drivers for the programmer and it works....

But still no go on my windows 10 laptop.
I'm having the opposite problems.

I've had problems getting my ALDL cable/TunerPro OSE Plugin to connect to my ECU with my new Windows 11 laptop, think I'll try and get a downgrade license to Windows 10.

If I connect my old Windows 10 Surface pro or my Win 10 desktop it works perfectly.

Haven't tried my GQ programmer but I need to soon for a mates car so I should probably test that too.

Very good idea, just get a younger person/relative to do it.
They may not be able to start a 2 stroke motor mower, but electronic things with a blinking red light are a breeze to them.

Stupid drivers, there was a semi infront of me making a left turn into a driveway, it was an industrial estate so not much traffic. He had to pull onto the wrong side of the road to get up the drive so I stopped and flashed my lights to to let him know to go. This dikhead behind me decided to overtake and squeeze between the semi and driveway . The semi had started to move and just missed the car by inches.
Some people are so impatient.
