I've been part of this crap and seen it fail miserably every time , to the point a few companies shut down and outsourced to china once they pissed off all the local customers for time to deliver and missed deadlines
Luckily where I am now the profits are so large this bollocks gets absorbed into the day to day running and keeps a lot of useless managers in their jobs.
One fine example was watch said manager move 20 molding machines to improve one piece flow at the cost of Hundreds of thousands of dollars to then move them all back from where they started 6 months down the track , the brains trust is very large in my company

It all works very well if done properly (20+ years in Quality Assurance/Manufacturing here) but it needs to be implemented from the top of the company to the sub suppliers right down to the janitor.

The number of places I have worked at where management decide that their staff have to implement lean and 6 Sigma without embracing it themselves blows my mind.

The office full of negative co-workers
Waking up happy, 70km commute to work, only to have your spirit broken by whiners in the first 10 minutes.

I try not to go to my local office much (2 hours of round trip commuting) to be slammed by negative comments, miserable people and office small talk that ends up making me only get about 40% of the work done that I would have got done at home.

People, what a bunch of bastards.

I've managed to only get the motivation to go in maybe 3-4 times this year, it's just too depressing.

I am going in on friday for a farewell catch up.

Office is trying some more free pizza style incentives to get people to come in. Half price parking is this months offer. Im not sad about that, but I will echo that work from office with commute & interruptions = less productive overall.

but sometimes it's better for my mental health than talking to the dog all day.....

I totally agree, and for someone that lives rural/isolated it is great to have the social aspect of it all, but sometimes it can wear you down, especially when you are used to peace and quiet.

I can sometimes work from home but its hard to be motivated. Once you get into the swing it's not too bad though.

I have a different role these days, so the office doesn't really have anyone I work with in it.
but nearly 2 decades with the same company, means the office still has a lot of people I know, so those who walk past me & then stp to catch up are the true time suckers. :D

I really just have to write off the days in the office as 50% or less work tasks for that day.

2024 is really just piling on the **** for me & my circle.

Daughter just left to go and comfort her best friend who found her mum had passed this morning while she was at the shops. She left home for an hour & came back & her mum had passed.

Honestly what a terrible year it's been.

Edit - looks like this is the first person I have actually known that has died from covid.

I'm doing it tough, it's work from home 24/7 for me. The grind never stops!

The boss is a real ball breaker too. Impossible to please.

You couldn’t pay me enough to have to waste 2hrs+ a day of my time commuting to work.
