So I have a vs slll v6 with t56 conversion and I'm getting what I believe to be input shaft bearing noise, initially I thought it was clutch chatter but have since narrowed it down to gearbox noise I believe it to be input shaft bearing.... Is this DIY -able ? I had read on a us corvete site...

So bought a manual starter motor when I did my T56 conversion into my vs lll v6 ute and when I first got it 1 in 10 starts the pinion wouldn't mesh with the ring gear and made that horrid screeching grinding noise, that went away after about 2 months, started fine for 12 months and now about 1...

So it's really strange but when my car (series lll vs v6) is in neutral and you use light throttle it's smooth as then you reach 2500 rpm to 3000 and it has a miss like a very noticible miss only in that rev range, I can't replicate the symptoms when under driving load ...... Only on neutral...
