[VIC] WTB (borrow) scanner or reader with electronic brake service

Yeah definitely, but I need something that can specifically issue instructions instead of read DTCs and clear codes.

[VIC] WTB (borrow) scanner or reader with electronic brake service

ITEM: A code reader or scanner that can put electronic park brake in service mode LOCATION: Melbourne, northern suburbs PRICE: really would like to just borrow it as I only need to do rear brakes on a Kia Sportage. Happy to pay some sort of rental and bond. Even happy to pay in beer and...

    Let's talk trolley jacks

Yeah that's the main reason I'm looking for double action. Thanks for the suggestions guys, good talk.

    Let's talk trolley jacks

Do people usually go in from the side or something? Happy to hear some lifting tips. I'll definitely go check out the ones above.

    Let's talk trolley jacks

Yeah, see the ones posted above, they look great, but it doesn't look like they'll reach to the cross member from the front.

    Let's talk trolley jacks

I'm sick of the small trolley jack I have trying to pump it under the SS cross member. It's too short, takes ages and is the worst part about working on the car. What recommendations does everyone have for a relatively inexpensive long chassis twin-action jack? Be great if there's something...

Radius Arm Replacement - torque bolt in driving position?

Read it again. I did all 4 struts. It's my daily driver. I needed an alignment that day and couldn't have my car sitting in a shop waiting for parts. I was invited to come back for a touch up free of charge. So please, cool your jets.

Radius Arm Replacement - torque bolt in driving position?

Alright, should have said bushes, but it makes sense to do the whole arm. Knowing my luck the ball joints will go next.

Radius Arm Replacement - torque bolt in driving position?

Wow this took off. Thanks for the suggestions. To the smart arse that said why would I get an alignment with "stuffed parts", they're slightly sloppy (like, you push it with a prybar and it flexes a a bit) they're not flogged out. I needed an alignment after i did front and rear struts. TruTrac...

Radius Arm Replacement - torque bolt in driving position?

Can't get a wrench under the car with the wheels down. I thought about a ramp too but it's not exactly "driving position".

Radius Arm Replacement - torque bolt in driving position?

Was advised my radius arms need replacing (after an absolute kick arse alignment at TruTrac North Melbourne). The instructions for the Whiteline arms (I think, could have Ben somehwhere else) state the chassis bolt need to be torqued with the car on the ground in driving position. Is this...

Transmission needs replacing after 109000km. F*#k holden servicing!

The 6 speed autos are actual **** aren't they. Got a squawk going from 2-3 at about 110,000km, got it serviced all good. 180,000km it started slipping really bad. 5k for a reco. (in the same year I did the heads due to a bent valve)

Harmonic balancer - without locking the flywheel

Hi all, just wanted to share how I did the balancer without locking the flywheel. I did not feel like buying a flywheel lock and dropping the extractors to take the starter motor out. Get a long chain wrench, I got this Chinese special off eBay for about 25 bucks. The top tensioner and...

Help! Need Front lower spring insulators

Well, looks like I'm waiting until Monday. Managed to get the rear struts fitted up. Pro tip: release the handbrake to get the bolt through the knuckle and lower control arm.

Help! Need Front lower spring insulators

Well, my car is on stands, I'm doing new struts, but the front lower spring insulators have rotted out. No Holden dealers near me in Melbourne is showing stock. Part number is 92295781. Does anyone know of an aftermarket option that suits that I can get from SCA, Repco, Burson, etc?

Yeah cool. Can't find a specific install manual for the VE kit, unfortunately.

VE Calais Series 2 - new Head Unit - Android Auto

No no, it replaces it. I don't really like the floating look and prefer a fully integrated look, but this unit seems to be the best integrated factory looking one on the market without the common limitations of the others like no reverse camera or no steering wheel controls. For this Alpine...

VE Calais Series 2 - new Head Unit - Android Auto

https://www.alpine.com.au/shop/perfect-fit-solutions/holden/ve-commodore-holden/ilx-f309e-ve-commodore-series-2-sports/ This looks like the best aftermarket, factory-look option. It's expensive though.

Coolant leaking into cabin on carpet drivers side, NEED HELP!

Yep, heater core. I did one of these just before christmas. Same issue with wet carpet. Here's a video of the "easy" way to replace it. Bit of a pain in the arse to get it past the steering column, even with the steering column on the floor. Now, when you get the new one (if you're in...

Fault code P0172 and ticking sound in VE 3 Lt V6

What you can do is pull each coil and see what happens. Could be a shorting coil or whatever.

Drive and AC belts 2010 SS

Can someone confirm the drive belt part numbers for a 2010 SS? This engine has the two idlers for the AC compressor. I'm looking at 6PK1940 and 4PK1110.

Fault code P0172 and ticking sound in VE 3 Lt V6

What's the exhaust like? Does it smell like fuel? Is it wet? Could just be pumping through unburnt fuel. I had a similar thing early last year and it turns out it bent a valve, so I was up for a new top end.

    Another harmonic balancer question

I'm gearing up to do a balancer on my SS. Ordered the ARP bolt and Powerbond balancer. My question is, instead of removing the starter motor and locking the flywheel (I've got DiFilippo extractors, starter might be difficult to access), can I use either a chain/strap wrench or pulley holder...

    KYB shocks part number confusion

Wow they're expensive. I can do the whole job for less than the cost of one fulcrum strut. I don't doubt they're good. Just looking at an effective OE replacement.

    KYB shocks part number confusion

There seems to be two possible offerings for KYB shocks for VE. I've got an SSV Redline wagon (standard FE2). 339153, 339154 as front shock OE replacement and 834003, 834004 "suitable for up to 50mm lower and FE2 suspension" also as front OE replacement, which seems like the right one. For the...

Scored a genuine pump with thermostat and housing for 318 bucks at Ralph Dsilva in Preston.

Weird sound in engine bay - V8

Water pump confirmed. I also though the resistance might be that it's moving water. Anyway, I took the belt off, noise gone, put the belt back on, pushed the pulley with a spanner and the sound went. How are aftermarket pumps? Gates? Holden ones are expensive, and I'll do pulleys and belts at...

Weird sound in engine bay - V8

Alright! I'm back finally. Firstly the sound has evolved a bit. It's owner volume, but more constant. Here's what I found out. I've taken the long belt off. The idlers, alternator, and steering pump all spin freely. The water pump has some resistance. Is this normal? Should it spin totally...

Weird sound in engine bay - V8

Hello all. This weird sound is coming from the engine. At first I thought a belt is slipping or a pulley is toast but I'm not so sure. The video says it all. 2010 VE Wagon Shocks

Thanks mate, looks like they have 1 part number for each shock, much easier to interpret. Looks like I can do the whole car for about 400 plus new strut boots which are cheap.

    2010 VE Wagon Shocks

Hello everyone, first post here, but long time reader. Got me out of a jam many times. I need front and rear shocks for my SS Wagon. It's FE2, standard setup, not lowered. I'm confused with the part numbers i need. I'm looking at Monroe because I believe they're the OEM, but their part numbers...
