Just managed to get to this today. Genuine parts are A/C belt: 92244381 Drive Belt: 92252908 I used gates 6PK1840 but the genuine drive belt had the number above and 6PK1839 on it. Either way it fit fine.

Sorry for the late reply guys. A mechanic confirmed it was simply the belt. He used a screwdriver against all the pulleys to check. Does anyone know how I can find the part number I need? Sparesbox seems to think it's a 6PK1840 but it doesn't align with anything for a Chevy SS so I'm not sure.

Yeh, disappointing to say the least. It's almost impossible to get a i902-vf now due to be being end of life.

I suppose it's safe to assume that the i903-vf will never make it to the market? It's been in "just around the corner" mode for about 2 years now. Has anyone heard anything to the contrary?

it definitely sounds external as well. It sort of comes from the belt pulley. I would've assumed if it was lifters it's be a lot more consistent but it seems to come and go at random intervals.
