Large VCM rear mufflers on a VE/VF V8 - finally found some & the results are pretty great

Here is a vid of the VF2 bimodals on the same system both shut then open at the end

Large VCM rear mufflers on a VE/VF V8 - finally found some & the results are pretty great

The mufflers are about loud as the bimodal being shut at low throttle and idle, and it didn't go over 90db up to 3.5k rpm so it may be just how my phone's mic pics it up The mid pipe is the Xforce VF82kit So 1 3/4 long tube headers 3" exit to 100 cell cats 4inch body Again 3" exit to a 3"...

Large VCM rear mufflers on a VE/VF V8 - finally found some & the results are pretty great

Yeah correct, juuust. When shut chalk and cheese & the bimodal is totally drone free. Could be needle in a haystack finding the information as to what was in these VCM mufflers however I did take this pic when there was a lip I had to reseal dunno if you can tell from what's in that? Or, when...

Large VCM rear mufflers on a VE/VF V8 - finally found some & the results are pretty great

Hi all As per @RevNev's suggestion at various points in this forum, I have finally found an extremely difficult to find set of large aftermarket rear mufflers, from an old RS Performance system (a rebranded VCM exhaust). My objective was to fit these large mufflers to achieve: a) A deep note...

What’s the best sized stall for my cam?

Sounds like an old 202 on choke

What’s the best sized stall for my cam?

It's worrying in 2023 that some tuners still seem to struggle with the VE/VF Commodore, for anything more complex than bolt on parts. Blows my mind that more customised gearbox and engine tuning for cams, stalls etc is this hard.

What’s the best sized stall for my cam?

Isn't the purpose to ensure on cammed cars in particular they don't bog down, because camshafts push the power band higher in the rev range? Even on stock cars it's well documented LS engines aren't amazing under 3.5k rpm, it's why 3.27 or 3.45 diff gears are used to assist that The idea would...

What’s the best sized stall for my cam?

If it's anything like my experience will be light and day going to a quality tyre

What’s the best sized stall for my cam?

Interesting very different experience to where I'm at with my car. Although as I noted large high end tyres made a huge difference for me. And yes yes, mine isn't a LS3 :-p

What’s the best sized stall for my cam?

Using foot brake stalling or just hammering the gas?
  12. T

What’s the best sized stall for my cam?

Dunno but I'm at those specs or better in my L77 sedan so it's close. I'm full bolt ons with tune, 3.27 LSD, 285 section PS4S rear tyres. King springs in the rear with towbar and full size spare. WOT from standstill no brake hold - zero spin. Light brake hold gets a chirp, need to stall it...

What’s the best sized stall for my cam?

Well that mod list escalated lol No worries cheers I've already got a daily so more interested in following the path of those with mid sized cams, and then who went to a stally which these cars really need to get moving off the line

What’s the best sized stall for my cam?

@daves8 did you ever follow through with this? Did oztrack ever come to the party with a quote?

    W427 exhaust

Hmm that just looks like the 2.5" system from a VE GTS unfortunately who has used every model type to attract more hits Hard to tell but reads like HSV used a 2.75" exhaust on the W427 And also amazing they used an OTR but then never again for VE3 onwards

    W427 exhaust

Curiosity question; has anyone ever seen a pic of the underbody of a W427 or even more sacrilegious with the exhaust system pulled out? Was scrolling through random stuff looks like the W427 basically laid the pathway for the entire aftermarket with its intake and exhaust set up in 2008... Read...

Xforce VF82 exhaust kit installed - product clearance issue or poor fitment?

There you go! I had been meaning to ask Matt also whatever happened to this muffler for the commodores that I found. Xforce muffler with Helmholtz chamber included. Not sure if this was a prototype or if it's just vanished from sale. I've said the whole time I never understood why the...

Xforce VF82 exhaust kit installed - product clearance issue or poor fitment?

Well in a thrilling (?) conclusion to this story I went to Xforce directly & had Matt the bloke that designed the system correct the fitment; seems my local exhaust shop did Friday arvo quality install job, who will be hearing from me soon enough. As you can see behind the slip joint its nearly...

Xforce VF82 exhaust kit installed - product clearance issue or poor fitment?

Yeah apparently their catback systems come with it but the product VF82 and VF83 don't come with it... Weird

Xforce VF82 exhaust kit installed - product clearance issue or poor fitment?

This was going to be my other question back to Xforce as they said they don't supply a brace with this system (But are happy to remove the factory one and bin it). Sorry its probably been debated elsewhere but was seemingly elusive in the search bar - what does the cross brace do, I assume its...

Xforce VF82 exhaust kit installed - product clearance issue or poor fitment?

Indeed but a full manta stainless system is also $5.5k installed its insane what they charge. Sweet looking system though - it's basically a 3" version of the stock exhaust system design (i.e. front muffler included). And if you want bimodals its getting closer to $6k installed. This system I...

Xforce VF82 exhaust kit installed - product clearance issue or poor fitment?

Cheers yep I agree. I won't mention the business as it's a well known and regarded business however I'll be discussing it with them mid next week after my suspension is in. Hopefully it's a matter of just spending more time adjusting the hangers and not something more serious... In which...

Xforce VF82 exhaust kit installed - product clearance issue or poor fitment?

Lol I think this is my smoking gun Looks like a rubbish install job This is the install tutorial on YouTube of basically the same system from Xforce (same headers installed into a 7 series catback) clearly showing the cats for example hang at most maybe 10mm below the rails My whole system is...

Xforce VF82 exhaust kit installed - product clearance issue or poor fitment?

Open question to the seemingly few owners who have this system - does anyone have any pics to share on ground clearance? Mine is below. Is this expected with this system? I'm hesitant to ask the shop that fitted it to correct it unless I'm 100% its an install issue as they can just say "its...

VF Calais V V8 - way to firm up suspension without breaking the bank

380mm F&R is a good height I reckon. No idea why it went to 400mm on the VF its ridiculous. Spoke to King I should have gone with the KHRL-152HD to start with to get to 380mm on my vehicle given towbar & full size spare. So the lesson is either pay a shop to manage it all for you (but accept...

VF Calais V V8 - way to firm up suspension without breaking the bank

Extra thought of the day - how much fuel is in the tank I wonder when King did these measurements? Can't find that info anywhere either. I have a 3/4 tank. But measuring at half tank versus full say adds another 30kg of rear weight which is enough for another 7-8mm drop/gain pending where you...

VF Calais V V8 - way to firm up suspension without breaking the bank

Makes sense thanks. Seems my options are now: SL HD in the rear L L HD Might call the suspension shop and ask what they can do

VF Calais V V8 - way to firm up suspension without breaking the bank

Cheers RevNev yep I'd say you're correct. And yep had superpro strut tops fitted at the front so probs an extra couple of mm there which is prefer tl be honest. Have you tried the HDs before at the rear? I know it increases spring rate over standard but then Kings materials say it won't...

VF Calais V V8 - way to firm up suspension without breaking the bank

Fronts are correct at 374mm, rear is about 353mm so waayy to low. I fitted my spare wheel/tyre to one side and drove it 5km to reset the spring as I find it sits higher without doing this when changing wheels. That added 12mm of height. That is because I'm using 245/40 tyres on the 9.5"...

VF Calais V V8 - way to firm up suspension without breaking the bank

This is what mine is looking like apologies on the shrub in the way can't find a good spot at the moment for a clear side on pic! You can see the rear is probably 15-20mm lower than the front not 5mm higher. Note rear tyres are 245/40 R19 on a 9.5" Senator rim so look stretched, trying to wear...

VF Calais V V8 - way to firm up suspension without breaking the bank

Update; thanks for the advice! Settled on King KHFL-151SL on the front, and KHRL-152SL on the rear, which should give approx 375mm HTG and 380mm respectively. Paired it with Monroe GT sport shockies. Initial impressions; it's a very very good combination for both comfort and handling. Cuts a...

    Supercharging VF SV6

CAPA quotes 330kw at the engine. But I agree with all the other posters above. In addition @Ryan83 will need an engineering certificate otherwise good luck getting the car insured. Even with the certificate, probably only a handful of insurers will insure the car, and will charge you a hefty...

Do different 4-1 header designs sound different?

This and the Sureflo 4-1 headers that finish at the standard position are both reasonably unique products, can't find many others that finish in the standard spot. Someone needs to have the stepped REX headers run back to back with 1 7/8 long tube 4-1s I both with 100 cell cats and try and find...

Do different 4-1 header designs sound different?

Nah not me sorry although I think I recall reading that post which inspired me Again, I love that drone on these cars is still being discussed I don't think I have ever heard of another vehicle where drone was so much of a problem

Do different 4-1 header designs sound different?

So I had my H pipe added here looks to be a small amount of space... But you'd also be customizing probably the most expensive catback you can buy
  38. T

Do different 4-1 header designs sound different?

Ultimately they're a business and want repeatable good results so it seems they favour their copy paste transmission tune and also their engine tune that is tweaked a little from car to car. Daves8 maybe try Castle Hill performance if they're willing to do a transmission tune tweak...
