VE Police Mode - What exactly is part of it?

Sorry, was trying to make time to do a write up about fixing issues with ex police commodores but this will have to do. The steering wheel switches are fed from the dash board. Different switches present a different resistance to the dash board which then uses the resistance to work out which...

VE Police Mode - What exactly is part of it?

Hi, Did you ever get this sorted? I just brought an ex police commodore and had the same issue. It was because of the police equipment installed and then removed. They cut the wire for the steering wheel switch so they can hook into it for their hands free police radio. It's very easy to fix...

Whats the most fuel you can get into your VZ fuel tank?

A couple of times I've managed to put OVER 75 litres of fuel in my VZ Commodore Sedan, so yes, you can use the last 10 litres. Note - not over 76 litres though...

VZ Indicator ISSUES - Left side staying on permanently

I wonder how similar the pdf guide they send you is to the one I wrote and put up on this site here The price is a lot cheaper than a new bcm, so, that's good.

Aux plug in a vz cal

Not wanting to annoy anybody, but, have a look at this site. I think it's pretty cool. I don't have an ipod, and, don't really care about music in the car, but, if I did, I do like the thought of being able to control everything through the std headunit. There is a video of it working here

How to fix the sticky indicator in a VZ Commodore (BCM)

Given the number of VZ commodores, that's probably not a bad idea. I'm not sure when / if the bcm was manufactured with a better relay, but, there would be a lot of cars out there with this problem starting to occur. Someone could make a bit of money making themselves known to the dealerships...

How to fix the sticky indicator in a VZ Commodore (BCM)

I did mention some thoughts I had about the high failure rate of these in a previous thread, I may be totally incorrect with this, but, it seems to make sense "Note2 – below is just a thought I have, not proven. Looking at the datasheet, it states “AgSnO2 contact is suitable for the lamp...

How to fix the sticky indicator in a VZ Commodore (BCM)

Hmm, I would have expected this to have fixed it. I've downloaded this and unzipped it with pk zip on another computer and it opens fine. Will have to see if I can host it elsewhere in an unzipped format. There is actually no need to zip the file, in fact, it now makes it larger. It's only...

The attachment is not corrupt, many people have sucessfully opened it. Having said that, a few people have reported issues trying to open it. The file was compressed with a recent version of winzip, which must use a newer compression algorithm. Try downloading a trial version of the latest...

Need wiring diagram for vz BCM

The guide has now been loaded in a new thread, as, it was already spread accross a few threads. Have a look in the other thread, some people are ordering them in bulk to cut...

How to fix the sticky indicator in a VZ Commodore (BCM)

Thanks. Yeah, was a bit gutted that there didn't seem to be any detail on how to fix this when it started happening to me, but am glad that I was able to put the info there for people to use. Wasn't sure whether to put it in the electrical / how-to or vz section. I'm sure people will be able to...

How to fix the sticky indicator in a VZ Commodore (BCM)

As promised, here is my document on how to fix the sticky indicator in a vz commodore by replacing the relay in the BCM. I have successfully fixed my commodore by following these steps. This will hopefully save some people from paying hundreds of dollars for a bcm swap, when really, it's just...

Cool. Just weren't sure if you knew that it was only the 1 relay that needed to be changed to fix the sticky indicator. Unusual about the zip file. I can open it from a different computer, and, it's the same zip file that was on this post, which people seem to be able to open.

Quick question, The sticky indicators is caused by a sticky relay, the relay that causes this is the HFKM/012SHS. Have a look at this doc Is there a reason to buy the other types of relays as well?

Just to let you know, guitarfish Has found a source of relays that would be suitable. He brought 12 and is selling them for $20 inc postage, see this thread. http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/vz-holden-commodore-2004-2006/151284-anyone-know-where-source-bcm-relay.html I brought one off him...

Might be worth asking them about the HFKM 012 SHST instead of the HFKM 012 SHS and ask if that would be more suitable.

Need wiring diagram for vz BCM

Ok, I'll have to add it when I do part two.. On the exec, there's a black panel with sound deading material on the other side, it's directly above the accelerator pedal. There were a couple of press in retainers that had to be removed and then it slid out. It's just the black panel, more of a...

Have a look at a pdf I've attached to a post here. It's for an exec, but, should be similar for other models. Edit I see you already have it - perhaps it's harder on the upper models?

Need wiring diagram for vz BCM

Are you going to use it to drive a second external relay? Being spdt, there is no option to keep the left and right indicators separate, which you need to do to prevent both indicators flashing when you indicate otherwise. That's why I'm looking (without much success) for a dpdt (or dpst) relay...

Anyone know where to source BCM relay?

I've been looking as well, without much luck. Just looking for a suitable replacement now and I'll extend to the pcb with wires and hot glue and cable tie the relay to the space above the pcb. Having said that, it's not that bad without the relay The lights don't work with the alarm and the...

Have a look at this thread. http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/vz-holden-commodore-2004-2006/112554-pictures-inside-vz-bcm.html I've removed the relay from my BCM, it only affects the car lock unlock lights, alarm and hazard lights, so, it's actually not bad just not having the relay in...

Fixing the stuck indicator - part 1. Having my wife call me yesterday as the car was flat and she had our new baby in the car and a 2yo moved the priority of the job up a bit... At the moment, I've only done half the job, as, I didn't have time to source a relay. I've attached a write up of...

where is the bcm on a vz

Pictures of Inside a VZ BCM

My one has started to do this, so, I'll let you know once I crack it open and fix it (won't be too soon though, new baby almost here, no real time at the moment). From the research I've done, the relays appear to be sealed, therefore, it will be a desolder and replace job. Someone else...

    cannot turn blinker off!

Yeah, that's possible too. In a way, it's even easier to fix as it's easier to remove a transistor than a relay. If you know what pin on the connector goes to the indicator, trace it backwards and see what components are involved. Have a look at this thread, and possibly send pezouni a pm.
  37. D

    cannot turn blinker off!

I would presume that it would just be a relay in the BCM that would need replacing (connectors being stuck). Replacing the whole bcm seems a bit of overkill if that is the case (not sure, but I'd expect it to be the case).

How can I make my vz 3.6 more fuel efficient

Neutral down hills I’ve used the instant fuel consumption (the hidden one which you hold the mode / set keys while starting), and going down hills with the car in gear the fuel consumption drops to 0 litres an hour. In neutral the fuel would be used to keep the engine idling, which is...
