custom dash for my van with v6

Hi forum. can anyone tell me if the VS level2 dash has the same speed trigger as a VX dash cluster? I will be using a VX PCM + BCM in my econovan and would like to just wire in a VS L2 cluster as its a much better fit in my square dash. its just the speed trigger thats holding me back...

Hi DW. It seems your inbox is full up. ive decided to run with the VX BCM. do you know if a VS dash cluster can be wired to work with the VX BCM? also regarding the tune, is it the same price to reflash it with a 98octane specific touchup for mad powers with a decent exhaust? also an idea...

    Mazda E2000 3.8 V6 conversion

bit of an update to this as i went full circle. decided it was too costly to do the v6 swap. so then tried my hand at putting a turbo on the 4 cylinder. I got as far as putting a holley 5200 carby on it and pulled the pin on that one. stupid thing drinks around 17L/100km so i decided to go...

    Mazda E2000 3.8 V6 conversion

the engine is question is in pretty good condition, has 290k on it, but has always been looked after, serviced, country K's etc, just only ran out of rego and has a minor timing case water leak. so pretty certain there will be select items replaced, but only once the internal condition is...

    Mazda E2000 3.8 V6 conversion

bowen, sounds like youre taking my aim a little far. no rev limit increase, well behaved stock feeling engine with up to 10psi of turbo. on a nice tune, there should be zero issues on the stock setup. blokes in the US pushing 700hp on the stock L36 gear no problems. im chasing maybe...

    Mazda E2000 3.8 V6 conversion

Thankfully my father works in Holden spares, so I'll get all my genuine replacement parts at cost price. Otherwise pistons will be from precision international of which I found listed online at 600 for the set plus post I imagine. Block work will be simple, acid dip, hone, maybe a minor...

    Mazda E2000 3.8 V6 conversion

Im not doing any of that to the block. If it comes to that, it will be a different block. L67 is a no. I need the extra compression that the stocker will give. And i found a set of forged pistons for 600 so that's a win there. The bottom end is the same and they put ecotec heads on L67 for...

    Mazda E2000 3.8 V6 conversion

as for rebuild, im keeping it super simple, forged pistons, Acl race bearing, L67 head gaskets. But otherwise stock. So engine budget is around 1000 for the parts plus 500 for the donor. The auto is going in from the vt so down the line it will get upgraded but just to get it in the van will...

    Mazda E2000 3.8 V6 conversion

Hello forum. Its been a while. Recently purchased a Ford Econovan (Mazda E2000) from my workplace as it has been my daily driver for over three years now and the boss was going to scrap it. About 8months ago, it suffered a huge overheating event , exploded teh radiator and cracked the...

    SU-77-LE Drift Commodore

i have drawn up a couple ideas for how to structure the roll cage to best fight the chassis twist it suffers from. and the missing section of trans tunnel will play a bit part in stiffening it up when i replace it.

    SU-77-LE Drift Commodore

it was my tuner who suggested id be better off with supercharging. with the right setup he said i could make more boost quicker and safer than with the turbo. so when i get to it, ill be following his suggestion

    SU-77-LE Drift Commodore

for anyone actually interested in this, the build plans have changed. no more turbo. but at least one m90. and probably two. going to be going with as large a piston as i can fit. ive seen others use WRX pistons with success. the toyota gearbox will probably get a set of decent gears, possibly...

    The wifes VX wagon

small update. scored a VT SS front lip for nothing :) was a touch short, so its streeeetched on. lol. basically, screwed it on at either end, and then dragged it up over the stock lip until it clicked into the groove. so, for that, its ever so slightly lop sided, but im talkin like 2-3mm difference.

    ** Rebuilding a Stroked/Turbo VT Ecotec **

just a thought, if you do move the passenger side one right down to the same spot as the drivers side one, you could potentially put panels/covers over them to the point of not even knowing they were there if ya popped the bonnet.

    ** Rebuilding a Stroked/Turbo VT Ecotec **

even if there was even 50cm difference in length, the pressure difference would be marginal at best, and the exhaust pulses are all going to be hitting the turbine at the same frequency and same pressure so differences in spool times?? what difference... and matt, i thought you were going to...

    Custom intake question

keep in mind that black manifold is designed for an R35 gtr. so suss out how the gtr sensors work, and either copy that to the commo, or come up with a way to work around it. as AJ said, having two completely separate plenums would need a way to balance them, but if balanced then 1xTPS and 1xIAC...

    Custom intake question

since i cant link to the SC thread i have on intake manifolds i figured id just link a few pictures over for discussion. my initial idea was to have a stand off style injector. but to be able to feed it boost, meant that the injectors needed to be enclosed some how. so, on that. discuss...

    Custom intake question

that walker manifold has been shown to be pretty nasty as far as the design is concerned. i cant remember where i read that now, but it was said that inside was horrible. no bellmouths, no taper on the runners, boxxy restrictive plenums.. IMHO, id be copying the R35 GTR plenum. imagine...

[General] [My VX] How to make your stock lights look aftermarket

[General] [My VX] How to make your stock lights look aftermarket

heres a pic of the wifes wagon that i tinted the tails on. and yes theyre the same, as when i did them, i sprayed them as one. so right next to each other and in consistant sweeping strokes. been like this for 2-3 years now, all they need is an occasional polish with wax and they look great.

[General] [My VX] How to make your stock lights look aftermarket

ive used VHT niteshades spray on all the cars if tinted the lights on, if youre carefull, (like i was) you can get an even and consistant tint, and then all it takes is a quick rub with 1200 wet n dry and then a cut n polish and all is swell. AFAIK, you have to be able to see red illumination...

Oh my god!! Does that mean the ecotec in my Vx is also an L67 ???? !!! oh wait, no... Thats coz ALL ecotec/L67 blocks were four bolt... Do some reading and you will learn there actually isnt much difference between an L67 vs L36 structurally, so techinally an L36 is just as strong as an L67...

    piston / compression question

yea still dished, but according to ACL, the pistons you get for the 3.8 result in a 9.9:1 CR, plus i have +0.040 which apparently increases CR slightly. u still reckon just pump it in until he has to kill timing?
  39. klampy

    piston / compression question

ha ha, i was actually hoping youd chime in mike. its got head studs, L67 head gaskets, but cast pistons, u reckon theyd take it or implode on the first rev limiter hit? 14psi with 10:1 CR would be mega amounts of potential power yea? be like running 25psi+ on 8:1???
