Using a VR V8 HP Power Steering hose on a VS V8??

Yeah I know they used essentially the same set up for the V8 option between the VN to VT series 1 for the power steering side of things. Only real changes were in the positioning of the lines. And this stupid little metal pipe they introduced. The other problem is, the car is parked in my...

Using a VR V8 HP Power Steering hose on a VS V8??

Thanks for this! That'll help. Having a good look through it, the top left image doesn't have the high pressure line illustrated, while bottom left has a part of it shown, it doesn't make mention of it. The two rightmost images are for the placement of the high pressure hose under the engine and...

Using a VR V8 HP Power Steering hose on a VS V8??

Hi! I'm in a bit of a pickle right now. I have a VS Calais V8 Series II and the power steering failed while I was around the corner from my place, a few weeks ago. I had noticed the pump was whining for a while when I turned the wheel, and since technically the pump is easier to try to...

How do i change the bulbs in the Foglights?

Just did this the other day. You need to prop the car up on stands at the front (don't want your head squished...), get on your back and look under the reo bar that holds the front bumper in place. There are two large screws that can be undone with a socket wrench. Undo those, unplug the fog...

How to convert a V6 tacho to suit a V8

Just letting you all know, the new resistor for R2 is *not* 220k, as suggested in the howto and subsequent posts. On a V6 tacho, R2 is 220k (Red Red Yellow), which is moved over to R3. The now empty R2 is replaced with what appears to be a 2.2M (Red Red Black Yellow Brown) 1% tolerance...

    Using a VP V6 starter loom in a 304 V8 conversion

Hey guys, This may have been covered before but I can't find it anywhere... I'm almost complete with my v8 conversion in my VP now, however I appear to have it a slight snag... The original starter loom does not quite reach from the battery to the starter without it hitting on everything on...

Different length between V6 Auto and V8 Auto gear stick linkage?

Hey guys, as the subject says, is there a difference between the gear stick linkage when comparing a standard V6 Auto and a V8 Auto trans? I'm doing a conversion right now and for the life of me I can't get the gear stick to line up with the V8 trans using my original V6 linkage... I guess...

Hi guys, Doing a v8 5l conversion on my VP Berlina and having a big issue trying to find a replacement Throttle Valve Cable, also known as a Kick Down Cable. Mine seems to have become frayed somehow... So, does anyone here know where I could source a standard VP V8 Throttle Valve Cable in or...

    Help, vr dash to vp

Hehe, I wish. Unfortunately the VN and VP dash loom simply runs through the firewall into the engine bay, with no plug separating the two. The VR and VS dash has a plug separating them, which is something holdens have been doing ever since.

vn88holden, been extremely busy this week, I'm hoping to get a bit more done over the weekend, however I need something from you. Are you able to take photos of your switch blocks from the circuit board side? I *might* be able to make you a complete wiring diagram but I need to see what the...

    Help, vr dash to vp

Yes I know, however, sometimes its best to make do with what you have. Besides, the actual reason why I did this was because the aftermarket alarm system I have a few extras in my car (nokia bluetooth module, alarm system with auto power windows etc) that I didn't want to lose if I did this...

    Help, vr dash to vp

The problem with doing a firewall replacement is its extremely hard to get a firewall out of a car, and then trying to put it back into a totally different car. I mean, anything that bolts onto the firewall needs to be removed, even the front windscreen, which can be quite expensive. I agree...

No worries mate, its a good excuse to finally digitize my notes. If you can use any of it, then it doesn't go to waste. Anyway, ok so it looks like you have Hazard, Demister and.. Dome (?) and of course the wiper controls on the left block, and Dimmer and headlights on the right? If this...

    Help, vr dash to vp

It did. I started poking around with a multimeter about 6 months before I did the dash install, mainly because I wanted to be absolutely certain I had everything ready to do before putting it all in. Since I was literally making adapters between the VP loom and the VS switch plugs, I actually...

    Help, vr dash to vp

Hey mate, I'm gonna reply here instead of the PM just in case it helps others etc. I installed a VS statesman dash into my VP about a year and a half ago and I must be honest, its a big job, but so worth it! I need to give a bit of background about my car... its a 92 Berlina with a level 3...

Difference between v6 and v8 exhaust Y piece?

Ok! So I was under the car over the weekend unbolting the tailshaft and exhaust etc and noticed the y-piece on my v6 in the car *looks* like it'd bolt up to my newer v8. The reason why I think this is the case is because both the v6 and the v8 have pacemaker extractors on it, and the end points...

    Removal of main engine loom

Hey! Thanks for the reply mate. I was able to get the plug out! Now all I need to do is degass the ac, unbolt the exhaust, remove the drive train, and then the coolant lines for the heater, oh and the fuel line, and then finally unbolt the mounts from the trans and engine. So much work >.<...

    Removal of main engine loom

Hi everyone, Currently removing bits from my VP, prepping for a 304 conversion. I've hit a bit of a snag though; how does one remove the main engine loom from the firewall on the passenger side? I am assuming I may need to remove parts of the sound proofing inside the cabin area but once...

    Schematics for VN/VP

hey, yeah the dimensions of the car and sizes etc are helpful, but in order to model a 3d version of the car in Blender or 3ds max youd use a non-perspective-distorted picture of the object, from the front, side, top and rear. That way the final outcome looks much more realistic than something...

Anybody? Surely itll be ok just to drive to the shop to get regassed..?
  38. O

vp v8 air con compressor contains oil?

Ok, so if I were to put the engine in, and put all the aircon componentry in and then drive it to a workshop to get filled, it will ok, yes? I mean, I wont turn on the aircon etc, since there will be no gas and no oil in it, so that will be ok right?
