Its not alternator whine comin through the stereo?

Well process of elimination sometimes. Where is the whistle comin from? Run ur ear from the airbox to the plenum. Also listen to the vacu lines at the back of the plenum. Edit. When u say middle. Middle of whole car or middle of engine. I think listen to the vacu lines at the back of plenum.

Can u hear where bouts in the engine bay its coming from? Does it happen when movin or stationery as that can rule out bearins after the box. Whistling is likely to b air gettin in past a gasket or maby one of ur vaccum lines. Can be a bearin although i found they usually shut up once spun up...

Perhaps try a oil and filter change first before dropping in another tranny? Common problem is the filter clogging, starving the box of oil and thus slipping. New filter kit from holden is around the $30 mark I think and new trans oil is about $30 aswell. Simple job to do with a jack. Just...

I was just going to steal the lcds from a lvl 3 cluster... as i said above i already tried on level 3 however i think it was from a series 1 vx or from a vt and thus the contacts for the lcds are different. I am hoping to source a vx series 2 lvl 3 cluster.
