Jingle jangles (what my son calls his great grandfathers medals) all pinned on his jacket ready for the morning. Dawn service then local RSL like every year.

Woke up early. Local service is an hour later this year. So it is warmer for the vet's.
My good mate served in the NZ defence force, and I will be meeting up with him at the service very soon.
Such a sad and joyful day, all rolled into one.

Happy ANZAC day everyone.
Lest we forget.

Did you see them or just hear them?
79 SQN operate the Hawk lead in fighter out of RAAF base Pearce near Perth.
The next closest is 75 SQN out of Tindal in Northern Territory, they have the F35 JSF.

We had a Air force 737 (P-8) and Hercules do fly overs at different locations.

Normally the NZ Warbirds come out but didn't hear anything this year (I live close to the airfield the are based at). The weather was a bit average though so that probably explains it.

OK, if low enough especially while heading away = view the tail, then Hawk 127 has a single vertical Stab/ rudder/fin.
A F18 Super Hornet has 2 vertical Stab and 2 exhaust nozzles and an F35 has 2 vertical Stab and a single exhaust nozzle.

The F35 is friggin loud. louder than the classic Hornet was and the Hawk is nowhere near as loud as either of them.
