If the black 308's are actually 304's and the injected 5.0L's are 304...could I put a VP 5.0L crank/rods into my black 304 (still has 308 cast into the block, engine number prefix is VT tho) and use my carby pistons (which are out of the same black carby motor)....should work hey?

The only thing that's physically different is the crank.

Just make sure its all balanced.
Do the black motors have spiked rods like the EFI motors?

Haven't taken much notice of the rods, but when I pulled the ones out of the injected 5.0L they were definitely different to the ones in my black 308.

Got some pics of the 2 different cranks too.

EFI 304.

The EFI 304 crank even has 308 cast into it.

And 253 block, the bump is the same on my black 308 block.
