The young bloke just bought a 2001 turbo diesel rodeo. Very original vehicle with 340k kms. One owner, comprehensive service history.

Runs great, however, I noticed today that the tacho would intermittently stop working and remain 'dead' until I either hit a bit of rough roadway or firmly belted the dash top.

Happening at all speeds, all revs. Seems to be getting worse.

Broken wire somewhere?

I would suspect a broken wire, or a bad connection....

I'd look around the instrument cluster area, considering bashing the dash causes it to start working.

So there is a start and hopefully you find it quickly....
