vy engine swap from s1 to s2

i recently bought a factory manual vy s2 motor and put it in my s1 manual Ute i started it and not even 20 seconds later the headers got super hot to the point water would boil of it. it also runs really rough and the revs would drop

i think it might have something to do the egr has anyone else had this issue

Sounds like timings off check leads are going to the correct plugs from the coils.

Do you know the condition of the new motor purchased? Was it running OK prior to you purchasing? Does it have warranty?

V6 or v8?

Sounds like timings off check leads are going to the correct plugs from the coils.
it’s the v6 the engine I got of Facebook old mate said it was running fine and had heaps of life left in it the leads are in the right order I’ll try and swap them out this arvo

Yea let us know how you go.

You can use the old motor for reference to verify everything.

Very random, but I do recall a blocked cat or exhaust would give similar symptoms but let's start with the easier and common items

Hey mate found the issue for the rough idle I didn’t connect the hose behind the throttle body

Hey don’t know they don’t get hot as quickly anymore but smells to be running rich and white smoke coming from the exhaust

Maybe headers heating up from lean conditions?
White smoke you may have fried your LIM gaskets.
