I spent the day telling him the bolt was a 14mm when he'd come back with a 17, 16, 15, 13, and even a 12, everything but what I said it was, it was a 14. This happened all day long. I've spent too long with nuts bolts and spanners to know everything from a 7mm to a 24mm from sight and get it right EVERY TIME! Not being big headed it's just fact, I'm sure that half of you are the same. I told him the Mazda BT50 we serviced needed about 7. 5 litres of oil as the BT50 is the same engine as a Ford Ranger which I used to drive. He put 8 or 9 litres in because he done one last week and remembers... Yes we dropped a litre of oil in the bin as it was way over the max on the dipstick. I taught him the lefty loosy, righty tighty line because half the time he was trying to tighten bolts we was undoing...lol. The main guy did say he's useless and tbh def in the wrong field IMO but anyways.

As I'm not used to working under cars and being able to stand up I banged me head on a few things. The last one I hit one of the arms holding the car up and has put a gash in my head that bled for an hour, just stopping now. Should've gone to the hospital for a couple of stitches but couldn't be bothered.

So the clutch in the converter I bought was farked surprise suprise. My old one is fine apart from the threads so old mate said he's gonna bring me in a re-con. This guy works for a company that solely do converters and he said the internals of my original one can be reused, prob in my re-con lol, but whatever, I don't care as long as I get a *good* one.

Here's my 2 cut in half if anyone ever wondered what they look like inside...

I reckon I could get in there as he's not impressed with his apprentice...lol, but these are both Asian guys and I know they like to stick together which is fine. I love me tinkering but am off tomorrow morning for a maintenance role. Have dabbled in all trades over the years and pretty capable. This is working in university logins and one of the perks is free stay up to 5 days in any of their sites Australia wide. Interview I went to yesterday isn't going anywhere. I msgd the guy politely asking if I was starting on a Monday which is when he said the trade is needed but as usual, reads the msgs and don't reply. Some ppl are just rude c*nts. I get it they might get bombarded with applications and adds will often say only prospective will get a reply but when you have a chat with the boss on the phone (he rang me), it goes really well and then interviewed by his son the next day only to be ghosted...

Was it fun?
Using a hoist is much more "fun" than being on your back and under the car :p:p:p

PS: I’m sure I pressed “post reply” earlier today but it seems it didn’t take so pressing now

PPS: judging by the later posts, maybe the first couple of times under a car on a hoist, a hard hat may be in order for Paul (and others who aren’t used to such) just to keep the fun going:p

They had a hard hat on the wall, said I should wear it or my crash helmet for the rest of the day...lol, but it was just too many ppl (4) in one spot trying to get the next gearbox out. One of the guys was just a friend and there to get in the way plus us three.

Guys got all Snap On gear and the rep turned up today with the latest and greatest, but wow I knew it was expensive but $450 for 8 sockets and $1250 for one of them inspection bendy efforts with a lil camera on the end.... o_O We had them for looking inside walls looking for trapped cables or whatever. Chinese one for $35 and prob does a better job as the Snap On ones screen was rubbish compared. Did use Snap On tools all day but and they are lovely spanners and stuff tho.

The underside of a car is rather dirty so probably worth going to your GP and getting it cleaned up and stitched, else long heal times and infections, etc.
Yeah thinking about going to the GP over the hospital, but just out of the shower where I gave a good scrub and I think it's stopped. Had a tetanus about 6 months ago when the bonnet of my work van wirh faulty support arm fell on me head checking the oil. Went to hospital then and spent 5hrs waiting for them to put some stupid glue on it.
