daily shes does a 60km trip to work 60k home so gets a good run. Held it in 4th at 110 for a bit to clear any crap in cats. No engine light no miss fires
Dropped misses of at airport this morning all good on way home check engine misfire on cyl3, did the normal change plugs coil tricks misfire on 3cyl still there. 2 cans of intake clean and seems to be ok atm, black crap out the exhausts
sidi motor??
Parents have a early series 2 with sidi engine currently at 99000 full holden service history(every 15k) and it chews through coils and plugs evrey couple of years. Plus 2 02 sensors.
just did my first ls1 starter motor(vz SS), ffs you have to take the right exhaust manifold off to do it. While i was there put new headers on plugs leads etc plus 2 broken header bolts another GM issue
bought car from a auction as a work hack had 210000 and had missfire then on cyl 2, used some carbon cleaner stuff through the throttle while lad held the revs up(terrible smoke smell) fixed the misfire but at 222000 its cylinder 3 now. Not spending much on it now timing chain noise at start up...
ecotec, old design but so reliable good on fuel good torque.
Just replaced a holden trax 1.4l engine with 104000k on it head gasket gone another holden common **** problem.
with that avg speed probably not far off. I found a really good country run and put foot down a bit helped mine(clear the cob webs out) 91 to 95 to 98 makes no difference for my economy(around 9.5l avg speed is 60k)
Not just Vf its all holden stuff, hail damaged trax only 6 bonnets left in aust in 2021 over $1200 each.
Mates crash shop did SA police cars for sale, sa cops were buying write of ZBs for spare parts as no stock.
Holden knew they were closing so did minimal stock.
tried but almost double shannons prices and wont insure the heavily modded VE Ute, also the VF SS with 21k on it is 60k with shannons Raa would do 50K with larger excess.
in Sa had a hail claim with our ranger with shannons no issues with the crash shop we used, lad borrowed ranger and ran up some ones arse not much damage bullbar scratched one spot light broken but the same crash shop not a self assessed shannons anymore so not a auto repair waiting for ok...
Jan 16 build VF SS manual 21k on the clock bought new nice car but not in love with it compared to my other SS's, dust collector while i drive a few other cars, mainly ford ranger for work duties 195k and only battery replaced
had 5 ves over the years V8s have been bullet proof and i must be lucky both V6 have been good(sold with 250k)
go a calais with a 6pd auto the 5sp are junk. Service history is the biggest thing with these sludge mobiles
i'm a manual guy had 2 VE ss manuals and misses had a auto, must admit when i drove it it was a good auto, sold it with 80k young bloke bought it herd auto blew at 160k need full rebuild, odd as first 80k it was 95% highway driving
had similar on our VE dual fuel, the lpg lines to injectors(rubber) has a perished a bit on a joint, cut end off and pushed back on all good. Its low pressure so easy to fix. found the little bubbles with soapy water spray.
so true. i bought a wrecked VZ crewman from NSW wanted the interior bits as mine was a ex work car and a mess. Used all the interior stuff and hard lid and brake booster, sold motor box, diff etc was the cream on top. You learn crewman parts like diffs etc are worth a bit.
ok cold is when oil is thick, i'd bet your bearing clearances are to big for stock pump, try a high volume pump.
What where cam bearings like? Worn cam bearing can impact oil presure a bit in ls1
That cams a bit old school ls1, get a bigger slit as l98 inlet valves are huge and exhaust small, i had a 224/244 cam in mine was a rev rocket.
shopping list
Cam
Double valve springs
Ls2 chain damper
pushrods
Upgraded lifters(tie bar)
High volume oil pump
skim heads to get comp up a bit.
