Thanks Sean.... Yeah I looked at the Koya as well... Still undecided as to which rims would suit my alto grey SS... Probably go for higher off set as you suggested to prevent rubbing

FYI. This is what a staggered set looks like in these wheel sizes and reasonable offsets, especially on the rear................
The wheels and tyres on that red HSV are...........
FR 20 x 8.5 inch offset 40 ... 245 35 20 tyres
RR 20 x 10 inch offset 45 .... 275 30 20 tyres (A 9.5 inch wheel at 45 offset will look much the same as this).

I am not going to put my car up but I have the exact same wheels and tyres on my car. As you can see you really don't want to be running lower offset wheels which will protrude out further than these if you can avoid it. My car is not lowered like the HSV here but the tyres clear the rear guards and I have never had any tyre-guard contact with the 45 offset 10 inch wheel and 275 tyres.

That's a pity. Keen to see what they look like not lowered.

Just curious if anyone has 20 inch wheels on their SS without lowering... Want to see what it looks like... I want to get 20 inches but don't want the hassle of lowering. Scraping etc... But I'm worried its going to look funny sitting so high

They came factory like this. Look up the 60 ann model which came on 20" supersports from the factory

Mine look pretty much the same as the blue car but the wheel widths and offsets of the wheels I have are different .
( But lowered 20 -25 mm they would look better.)

Scraping the tyres on the rear guards is not dependent on whether you are lowered or not. You can be sensibly lowered and have a wheel/tyre combination that will not scrape. It is the tyre size, wheel width and the offset of the wheels that are important. With a low offset wheel the tyres will protrude too far out and hit the rear guard lip when you get enough suspension movement or if the rear springs are compressed because of the weight you are carrying in the car providing even less leeway when driving.

For info I have ..............

Fr. 20 x 8.5 inch wheels 40 offset Tyre 245 35 20
Rr. 20 x 10 inch wheels 45 offset Tyre 275 30 20

As mentioned I am not lowered and I don't have any clearance issues with this wheel /tyre combination but it is close on the rear.

Your stock Holden wheels are 8 inch and 48 offset and the tyre diameter match for the 245 40 19 tyres (679 mm diameter) you have if upping to 20 inch wheels is 245 35 20 tyres (680 mm diam).

If using a staggered tyre fitment with wider rear wheels, and provided the wheel offsets are high enough in the rear to avoid guard lip scraping, you can go:

Front 245 35 20 (680 mm diam)
Rear 275 30 20 (674 mm diam) or 285 30 20 (680 mm diam).

If you are planning to use one of the wider rear Holden optional or wider HSV wheels on the back then these are a high offset wheels (typically 57 ) and will accommodate 285 30 20 tyres if you want them. But you will need a 9.5 inch minimum wheel width with that specific tyre size.

Be careful what you choose because there are plenty of wheel/ tyre combinations available for VEs that will see the tyres contacting the rear guards whether you are lowered or not because the wheel offset is too low or the tyres are too wide or a combination of the two. There are also plenty of retailers selling wheels or wheel/tyre combinations for VEs they say will fit your car. Yes they will fit on the hub and the bolt pattern is correct but the tyres will contact the rear guards when you are driving and you will either have to change the wheels or the rear tyres or have the guard lips on your car rolled for tyre clearance. I would avoid having to do any guard rolling as well as having to modify the rear bumper bracket that can also contact the tyres with a low offset aggressive fitment.

would 245/45/20 fit on vf

There is quite the difference in those 2 tyres. Standard 20 tyre is on the left, your specs on the right.

You could go 255 35’s on the 8.5’s if you want.
