So, decided to take apart the rear hub last night as it's been making some grinding noises.

I was reading that I needed special tools and the like, but I managed to easily take it all apart and tap the bearings out with standard tools. :)

Anyway, cleaner the bearings as much as I could, greased put everything back together and while there is maybe a TINY improvement in how long the wheel spins, there is still a bit of grinding going on.

So, I thought "no worries", I will go riding this weekend anyway as she's good enough to ride and I will order my new bearings.

Started googling bearings for the hub and things went a bit pear shaped. Everything I read says I need 2x 6804 bearings for my hub (Hadley H500135 R2.1)

The issue being, the bearings in the hub I have are different sizes. The drive side is smaller than the non-drive side.

I have yet to find a single piece of information about a Hadley hub with this configuration.

More details here:
Hadley H500135 R2.1 Rear hub bearing - Confused as hell

Anyway, so I contacted a place recommended as a guru in this stuff and hopefully they will shed some light on my issue.

Something else I noticed, most Hadley hubs I have seen have a round logo, but mine has a rectangular one.

Yeah, that's the plan. Just that to find out what side the bearings are I will need to pull it all apart and measure them to find out what I need.

Didn't think to do it when I had it apart last night because I figured I would get more accurate sizing in material on the internel.

Not the case it seems. :(

New bearings; 40 bucks for enduro, new hub; 350 for anything decent.

Hmmm, I'm going to go with the option that doesn't involve investing that much into that bike.

And don't say "could always get a complete new bike...."

lol.

350 for any decent hub?
think that's what it worked out for the 2 hubs from Hope on the commencal.
(wheelset was $700)

unless of course you mean to buy a Profile Elite Hub with that amazing sound :p

should be good though with the build.

eventually youll get the bug for a new bike.
just give it time.

Haha... Scarface quotes are more awesome when used to make an unrelated point.

But yeah, in a few couple years I will upgrade. Just need to work now to get my skills and fitness up so I can justify it.

Speaking of which, my 2nd set of pads came in the other week which I only bought for spare parts for the ones I use.

Took everything apart, locktite on all hinge bolts so no more falling apartnes.

Which reminds me, have to go cut a piece out of the helmet... brb.
