Hi Guys,

I recently picked up a 2009 VE V8 Manual SportWagon.

I am trying to work out what Transmission i have...is it the T-56 or TR6060?

I read a Holden Press Release that said the TR6060 came out in MY10....i think mine is a MY 9.5, but is there an easy way to tell what Transmission i have?

I did a search and came up with a few things but i am still confused....is there a way to tell if i have a MY9 or MY9.5 Build?

I'll have to get some PIC's of the old girl up.

Cheers Guys!

I haven't had much to do with Manuals in VE's,
but I am sure there is a type/model/serial number on the side of the housing that should indicate which one you have.

I just went threw this.
Mine is a 09 ssv sedan march 09 build date, I'm pretty sure it's a my 9. 5, as the MY10 versions of the VE were released in September 2009. Don't quote me on that though, the tr6060 was first put in the my10 apparently? (except for hsv I was told).
So I swapped my t56 to a new tr6060 from the states that came out of a cadilac apparently.

Is it a straight swap between the 2?

I didn't install it, was told the box is a straight swap. Being from a cadilac its just where it mated up needed some parts swapped over. (not sure).
Apparently You can’t buy that model New anymore, was told i would be better to rebuild own transmission. I was just lucky I stumbled upon a new unit.
This is what I was told, I'm no transmission specialist. I suggest you call mal Wood Auto talk to him about what your looking for.

I did it cause I hated the t56 in it sloppy as and would jump outta 3rd occasionally during a 2 to 3 shift at high revs. And wouldn't like shifting to 2 + reverse when cold sometimes. I've only just done it recently. I'm still in the take it easy for 1000k before a fluid change stage. But feels solid, very nice compared to the old one just clicks into gear. I paid 5 installed with exchange for old one aswell.

I also got a ripshifter. Only worth doing if intend on keeping the car long term. Otherwise better off rebuilding the t56 strip, clean and rebuild it with New Syncros and Bearings assuming that it doesn’t need any hubs or gears should only be $2200 and worst case about $3650 + install bout 5-600, is what I was quoted. But I'm in it for the long haul.
