Any one know what this item is on a GENIII engine?

Just had the VX SS serviced and was having a look around under the bonnet, I noticed this little item, any one know what it is.
I had the plugs changed and was wondering if something is meant to connect to it or not. It is situated near the coil pack. I couldn't be bothered taking off the engine cover to get a better look, it appears just to be bolted to some sort of bracket from what I can see of it.

Thanks... I have not had the engine cover off before so was not sure what it was and had not noticed it before. With the cut out in the engine cover I thought something may have connected to it. I must pop off the cover and have a look under there.

Why would you have a grease nipple on top of a rocker cover? Like Hozy said, it's a coil mount bolt.

Have you ever owned any engine that has had a grease nipple on the head/rocker cover?

Sorry about the stupid question I should have investigated further, it was just that new plugs had been fitted and I spotted it and at a quick look it looked as though something might have plugged onto it and I thought the mechanic may have knocked something off. The fact the engine cover has a cut out only in that area looks odd as well. Rather a strange looking fitting. Thanks for clearing it up.
