Welcome to Just Commodores, a site specifically designed for all people who share the same passion as yourself.
Mine were 2nd hand used gears. So it was a shot in the dark to get the mesh right.Same with mine.
The 3.46's I had in the M80 before were factory as it was from a VX and they were quiet as, but I think some of the aftermarket gears just aren't as refined or maybe they are built with harder steel/teeth patterns to handle performance applications while sacrificing NVH.
Interesting.I just noticed the other day that the 3.45 gears out of my old VN had one edge of each tooth on the pinion relieved with a die grinder. That was a used set of gears that I had fitted by a local diff guy and those were not noisy at all, not even on overrun.
