Apparently we need to be told that nowadays o_O
Given most are sealed batteries now. If someone manages to get far enough inside to drink the contents, should we stop them?

Sealed batteries still have a flip top lid. They're just more childsafe against people with no idea.

That's why they have vent tubes, so you can suck the contents out with a straw...

Best time to check engine oil levels. Cold? Warm? I find that with the dipstick on the 2013 vf Commodore is hard to get a decent reading.any advice/tips appreciated cheers.

Wow, 4 pages on how to operate a dip stick...

Suddenly BMW not put dipsticks in their cars and just flashing a message telling the owner/driver to take it to a stealer doesn’t sound too insane now… lol

It seems like there is small difference in oil level when measuring with these two kinds of dipsticks.

In my case OEM dipstick oil level is exactly at full mark dot. When measured with cable style dipstick its over the cross hatched section...

So in theory cable style dipstick will tell you to use slighly less oil. I am not sure what this 2mm difference oil level in the sump would translate to in terms of quantity; probably 200-300ml difference I would guess...

Probably 250ml oil if you think the cross section on the dipstick is usually a litre.
