dash lights don't work

hey I recently put led lights in my dash and for some reason they won't light up but if I turn the lights off they light up
I have it pulled apart as we speak so any help would be great thanks oh its a vr wagon ( vr lexen)

Are the LED's around the correct way? Did they work when you first installed them?

yeah tested them and I turned them around 180 degress and they still won't work but put the original ones back in and they work any ideas

Are they coloured LEDs? try white ones, sometimes makes a difference.
