who cares, we're comparing power and torque figures arent we? not power to weight ratios. the l67 will obviously be lighter, due to 2 less cylinders.

feel free to look them up y

ourself, ive already closed the windows i had opened.

According to my parts guide here the L67 is around 185kg whilst the 5 litre was 209kg fan to flywheel. Just as a guide anyway.

I would be interested to see what the STD L67 and STD Holden V8 can make with a Tune, theoretically they should be pretty close as the L67s effective displacement would be pretty close to 5ltrs.

Both engines would be detuned to a certain degree from factory, i remember reading somewhere that the L67 was detuned slightly so it wasnt more powerful then the 5ltr on paper.
The Vt XU6 engine was rated at 180kw or something with a different tune.

Experience:
Having driven both the stock and charged versions of the ecotec, and also having spent 18 months developing my own charged buick 3800 running 6psi. It was pulling 220kW (295hp) out of a well used 3800 with an SC14 at 6psi.

That's pretty amazing mate, I'd be keen to hear more about this build, all the SC14 bolt ons I've seen are pretty much rubbish (no offence intended). Ever run the 1/4 in it?

Lowered to 8.5:1 ?? The same as the 3800 (L27 derivative) in my VP. So no your argument is invalid.

Buick 3.8L has a 1" taller deck height and longer rods, heavier pistons etc etc. Poor head design by comparison to L67. Sc14 is a a demonstration of a turd polishing excercise at best and clear proof that you didn't do your mods properly to knwo the full potential of that engine

This is what happens with a lot of people that bag l67 cos they haven't developed it properly to see the true potential

The build thread is on here still, although all the pictures have long since been removed from the webserver they were stored on.

1992 Empire Red V6 Calais:

60ft 2.529s
330ft 6.048s
1/8 mile 8.934s @ 86.71mph
1/4 mile 13.106 @ 108.34mph
0-60 5.055s
Maximum Power 170rwKW @4775rpm
Maximum Torque 368 Nm @3946rpm

Unfortunately I blew it up trying to win the "4.9 second challenge" without an intercooler.

In hindsight I should have been more patient, I had the cooler, just didn't plumb it in before spark advance fever got the better of me.

Another successful SC14 build you might be able to find on here was done by VNLuke around the same time.

I have managed to dig up one image from my archives, see below. The very same car is currently being rebuilt by my brother with an LS1 T56 conversion.

You see this is what happens when people don't read my posts.

I never said the SC14 was "top ****" I said it made more power than an Asthmatic L67 on an older engine when running the same amount of boost. So if I am polishing turds with an admittedly budget bolt on option, what are Holden doing with the L67?

Thats a pretty quick 1/4 mile time, My L67 has about the same power and in a VK it runs a 13.8 being nice to it.
I doubt i would get it down to a 13.1 no matter what i did though.

How much does the VP weigh?

1320Kg.

The torque curve was ridiculously flat.
