AT LEAST 40 people are dead in Paris, according to French media, after a shootout in a restaurant and an explosion in a bar, as reports emerge of a hostage situation at a concert hall and shots being fired at a shopping centre.
Police officials in France on Friday reported a shootout in a Paris restaurant and an explosion in a bar near a Paris stadium.
It was unclear if the events were linked. But US security officials believe the violent incidents are coordinated.

There are also reports of up to 100 people being taken hostage at a concert hall where comic rock band The Eagles of Death Metal were playing.
And Reuters is reporting there is a shooting at a shopping centre.
The French President has announced he’s closed the borders and is locking down Paris as he holds an emergency meeting of cabinet.
Police say 11 people were killed at the restaurant and another 15 at the Bataclan concert hall in eastern Paris, adding that a hostage crisis was ongoing at the venue.
