I have myself VN manual with 235k's and in an unmolested state apart from the obligatory pod filter.

The original owner sold it to the Grandson and I am the first owner outside that family.
It has a few issues but as its a typical Canterbury car, no rust but has seen plenty of dusty roads and has some paint chips.

Now to the problems. 1st I have a new Rack end ordered as I am seeing movement in the driverside but what I can't seem to trace is a front left clunk, it feels like the sway bay(checked and everything looks ok and has new nolethane on the ends) or shock(tried to get it make a clunk noise but failed), I have had it jacked up and can't find the culprit. Can anyone suggest where to look and possible causes?

SS Commodore - Ford Territory ... both camps
Check tie rod ball joints, followed by any movement in main ball joints.

with the car on ground (not wheels hanging) see if there is any movement in the shock top bushes (bonnet open and shake car by the wheels)

It's almost always z-bar bushes, doubt they've ever been changed.

Cheers everyone , I had a thought, I might set my dash camera up and move the car around until it clunks and see if I can see it, move it to all the components until I find it.

I did try to get some movement from the shock but failed, the z-bar is a good possibility but again couldn't see much wrong with them.
Well I will let you know and post the vid if it shows something. Raining today so wait for next dry day.

Front caster bush (Z bar) is rooted
And I'm guessing so are the control arm bushes.
Looser than a 2 dollar hooker....

Yep, it took the guess work out using the camera.
If you know how loose a $2 one is can I suggest spend more or find some under the age of 50 ;)
