I took my glovebox light unit out to replace the bulb yesterday and I noticed that it looks like this black piece is broken. Should it be longer than this? I assume it should be longer in order to shut off the glovebox light when the lid is shut.

I had to change out my original box because Vicpol had put their trademarked screw holes through out the thing. There may of been a slight change to the lights because when I put the new box in, the arm on my existing light wasn’t quite long enough to reach the lid and turn off. If you get a gap, a bit of thick felt tape will take it up. Lasted 5 years so far.

And no before anyone suggests, the arm isn't snapped and the box isn’t installed twisted..

its a pretty dodgy design, i remember in a couple of my ve/vf vehicles where the light just remain lit because summer heat made the glovebox door warp just enough to not trigger the button.
the vehicles sleep mode would still kill it after 10 mins of being parked but while driving it was always lit and got pretty hot so i just started the habit of removing the bulbs in them.
