Do you know what your oil pressures are now (hot and cold)? If your pressures are low it’s generally telling you that there’s something else wrong with the engine (excessive bearing clearances bleeding out oil pressure).Hi guys sorry to bring back the dead!
Im having a noise/knock when the car warms up 10mins after starts and it fades away 10minutes after. Replaced the oil to a thicker oil from 5w30 to 14w40 and noise still there… Now wanna do an oil pump replacement and wondering ist better to stick with a standard oil pump or a high volume the way to go? any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Generally speaking it’s not a good idea to use a high volume oil pump unless there’s a compelling reason to as all it does is sap engine power for zero benefit. It could probably be used as a temporary bandaid fix for excessive bearing pressure bleeding but the better solution would be to replace the bearings (engine rebuild) and use a standard oil pump.
Also I’ve heard other people mention that there is an oil strainer on the LS engines that can get clogged up causing oil pressure issues. Might pay to check that out, pretty sure it’s behind the oil pressure switch IIRC?
