When you see it....

There's why I have no gears....
If only I was that lucky. Seems it's in the right spot.

From another engine pic...

Damn, got all excited there. Dunno if engine needs to be running but am sure the gear indicator on the dash changes with the moves just with ignition on. I've moved the cog for want of a better word clicks to the left and right and misso said it just shows P no matter what I do...

Running out of options now....

EUREKA!!!!

I was sliding the brown thing back and fwd and the wife said the gears were going from P, R, N, D so thought there must be some way of linking this brown thing to the cog...

Need to drop the big mechanism thing and get that A into B, do up and adjust linkage and I'll be there...

I think... but won't know for sure till I do it and test.

Watch this space, I feel it in me waters we are so close now....

Did you have to remove the entire valve body to do that, or was it only the sliding switch that needed to be removed, to reengage the mechanism?

Selector switch can be removed separately from the valve body.

As I posted earlier, these switches can become faulty if the trans fluid has metallic crud within as that makes its way into the switch tracks and causes shorts… seems the switch can become problematic before the transmission launches itself because of the metallic crud…

In any case, it’s good that you got it sorted @HSV-Paul

To be honest, I’m no clearer how the rod clips into the cam without seeing it clearly as for me the photos of the mechanism aren’t fully clear. But that’s ok, hopefully if I even get into such trans work I’ll remember to ensure to check the rod shifts correctly before reinstalling stuff back into the car :p

Now to wait and here she drives nicely, fingers crossed :D

I saw that the switch itself can be removed. But it seems that the switch was connected to the appropriate part, but that part wasn’t engaged to the pin on the rooster comb mechanism. So, I wasn’t sure if it was doable by removing the switch, or if the valve body needed to be dropped.

But, it doesn’t really matter. It sounds like it wasn’t engaged, and now it is.

But we are all eagerly awaiting the outcome.

:)

OK. Firstly she seems noisier than normal and I suspect this might have something to do with it?

Screenshot_20240512_172349_Gallery.jpg

I only just see it now the car is out of the garage and all is back together...lol but I'll get it back on next weekend.

But as to driving...

So she's smooth thru the gears, no vibration, but yeah kinda has a lumpier sound which I can't work out. That metal thing above is there for soundproofing so would explain the extra noise right?

Either way I'm happy, altho kept getting the 'check engine' as stability control is playing up. I tried switching it off but yeah half my clips had the car with the 'check engine' warning all over em, especially if I gave it a bit...
