G'day

So, my Dad died last year & I've been busy organising everything.
He was Commodore only.
So I'm pretty positive this donk's out of a Commodore.
From memory, when I was a grommet he had a V8 VK - would this engine match?
If not, can ya's help me identify it?
Do I need a better photo?

Cheers

Sorry to hear about your father.

It's a Holden 308 block but I can't tell much more then that but it does look period correct. The engine number should tell us more.

Looks like a Edelbrock intake manifold but really need more pictures of individual parts to really know what is there.

Perfect, much appreciated
I'll clear out some space, relocate stuff & take another photo for ya.
Where would I see the engine number?

Front drivers side on the block face where the head bolts down (under rocker cover top LH corner of the pic above)

Cheers mate.
Started unpacking it, but, too much effort involved at this point.
I WILL get round to it, eventually ...

OK, so Holden 308 block: Dad had an 80's model Hilux paddock basher, and a VX Commodore.
I'm thinking about chuckin that 308 into the Hilux: realistic?
If that's possible, would it be possible/realistic for me to also put the Shell of the VX on to the Chassis of the Hilux?

Basically, I wanna turn the Hilux into a V8 4X4 Commodore (lift kit, snorkel, bull-bar)

Anything is possible, depends on your perseverance and how deep your pockets are.

VC or VH blue 'XT5' 253 or 308 is a possible based on that pic

need the engine number (253 and 308s have different suffixes)
and cast date would help. Numbers on the crank would be nice too ...

looks like a factory inlet manifold with the venerable Quadrajet carby on top
