Hello all,
I'm fixing up some of the body work on my skyline and I'm going to spray the front/rear bars, plastic door strips and the number plate garnish blllaacckkk.
I have a new compressor though its fairly poor, I'll be able to deal with it for a job this small (2.5hp 45L tank)

I know I would need a top feed gun, would the normal supercheap job do ok? What does everyone use?
I was thinking something like this?
SCA Air Spray Gun - Gravity Feed, 600ml - Supercheap Auto Australia
Can anyone suggest something else?

Could I get away with using a bottom feed gun? Not sure what the advantage is using a top feed, but that is all I see people use
SCA Air Spray Gun - Siphon Feed , 1000ml - Supercheap Auto Australia

Thanks.

Buy the best you can afford. Dont buy one from
Supercheap, they're rubbish. You wouldn't put sound4 speakers and a cassette deck on a SQ car- would you.

Very true, thanks for the help. Can anyone suggest good shops / online places to get a decent spray gun?

I got my gun from total tools and I was impressed with it its a gravity fed gun as I only have a compresser the same size as yours.

Ari666 got one of these I think, DEVILBISS SGK 600 1.4 Gravity Spray Gun HVLP paint shop | eBay , and he loves it apparently, got his Impala looking pretty neat. Send him a PM to make sure its the right model. It requires a fair amount of air though, so maybe think about getting a secondary air tank and fitting it up to your compressor, give you longer before you run out of air, though it will take longer to fill back up.

If I'm honest I'll probably end up buying a pretty cheap gun, I'm not willing to spend $200 even though I understand that is still cheap for a spray gun. The car I'm spraying is mainly used for track / drifting, chances are I'll end up ripping the front bar off after I spray it haha. I'll probably go a cheap gravity feed gun and hope for the best, It will still come out better than $2 rattle cans. I'll post up results of what I end up getting for those interested.
