Hi All.
I’ve been going down the rabbit warren on youtube on LS development and been investigating piston rings. The thickness of the piston rings makes a lot more difference than I expected it would.
A 20 horsepower difference (and cooler temperatures to boot) between running thin rings and thick rings is quite a bit. Running gapless rings would probably add on top of this.
The stock rings on the L98 are 1.2mm, 1.5mm, 2.5mm so changing out for 0.7mm, 0.7mm, 2.0mm wouldn’t make as much difference as in the video but might net 10-15 horsepower.
