cheers man, leaning towards a vvti 2jz. mainly because have the autronic sm4 setup to run a vvti 1jz so will be very little stuffing around to get it wired up and running.

bit of an update, but you guys might know some of this anyway, as it is a copy/paste off my regular forum

not much of an update, got myself a vl diff and handbrake setup, as well as 4 r33 rear calipers. going to run a twin caliper setup as the stock commodore handbrake sucks. these will be mated to vn groupA rear rotors. they are slightly smaller than the r33 ones 297mm vs 279mm but are vented and 20mm wide which is better than the standard solid poo. one issue with the vl diff is that it is wider than the salsbury diff i'm removing.. sooooz i'm keeping the regas and going to get the diff shortened... ah well. **** happens

I'd wager shortening the diff was on the cards anyway with those rear Tyres bro!

according to my measurements the 17x10 +40 would have stuck out a few mm which i could have worked with. good news is i already needed to get axles made, and i don't have to search for more wheels. as they are pretty rare and discontinued (and i have 6 of them haha as well as 2 for the front)

Hmmm ok...? 17x10 is monster for a first gen stock rear end...

Most have issues with 16x8.5 (what I'd like)

Il be watching the wheels closely:)

yeah it is def tight. really tight. but coming from an import background, we just make wheels fit haha. had a test fit of the ones on my R33 they have a 255/40 federal 595 which are known for being a wide tyre. and i gotta say, it looks amazing.

the edge of the rim will sit 10mm in. i wanted it flush but would be a head#### to make work. obviously the lip still needs to be rolled

got about 10mm room on the inside too. little less where the seatbelt nut mount is, but will cut that out and plated up

20130227_122405_zpsa7e1ca57.jpg

also test fitted the rear coilover to see if i could get it to work... negatory... i wanted to re-make the mount/tower so i could run the whole assembly. but the spring will be too wide, so i'll be making my own lower trailing arms (need to anyway to clear the wheel) anyone know good rates for these? i have 8kg front springs, and 5??kg rear, but i think these are going to be too soft being mounted 3/4 along the arm...

they fit sweet without the spring and seat, a comparison to the stocko shocks

one thing i'm going to try is to lower the lower trailing arm mount. has anyone tried this on a commodore? you can get bolt on brackets for sprinters/corollas that do it and you gain a heap of traction by fixing the pinion angle and improving the trailing arm angle.. it will end up about 110mm off the deck, but the pivot point will be 25-30mm lower than the front one.

here is what the sprinter ones look like:

and coilover spring width

I'd be curious to see how you go lowering the control arm...
Could be interesting.
