I have an issue with my VT commodore since last week.
I drove the car to work and after work remote was not working, I couldn't unlock the car.
RACV and lock smith couldn't crack the engine.
Replacement key and new remote from lock smith worked only for 10 minutes.
Here is what 4 previous mechanics found:
1)All fuses in the car and engine bay tested and working.
2)starter relay tested and bypassed( working fine).
3) Green light around ignition switch is not working, interior light not working, as well as the glove box light
4) the button in glove box is not clicking to release the boot
5)Immobiliser light on mode button is not blinking
6) BCM,ECU and new keyhead all linked, from another VT tested on my car and not working.
7) New battery tested
8) CAS replaced
9) central lock is not working even not manually
10) My BCM,ECU and Key fob are are working on my mate's VT.
11) once I was able to cranck the engine successfully but dash lights were on( engine light, oil light, airbag light) and engine fan was working on high speed(non stop), so I switched off the ignition and didnt work after that.
I am running out of options and my mechanic just gave up, is there anything simple we are all missing?
I desperately need help to fix my car.

Shaun, in point 6, are you saying you replaced the BCM and ECU from a working VT or only the key?

if you haven't swapped, lout could be correct. find it and try pulling the connectors out. had problems with mine locking on its own, drivers door switch not working interior lights and auto lights not working. All came down to 2 plugs not seated 100% on the BCM

BOR15, Yep, We swapped my ECU, BCM and key fob with my mate's VT. Everything is working on his car but not on mine. Lout is right, there is miscommunication between ECU and BCM but I dont know how to find the source. I was thinking maybe one of the wires between BCM and ECU is loose.

Well, I replaced the Memcal with another memcal(Vats disabled). still, atleast once a day, My remote is not working and I have to open the door manually. When It happens, dash lights are on, engine fan is on high speed, interior light and glove box light and A/C are not working. Boot release button is also not working.
Sometimes, I hear a click and it means, everthing is back to normal.
I bridged pin 5 and 6, and error codes are 31 and 92. Error 92 is for low speed fan, right? But low speed fan is working fine.
I read on this forum somewhere, that error code 31+92 is pointing to faulty ABS module, do you guys think it worth replacing?

Its a real pain atm, I can use the car for now but I really want to fix the problem.
My car has over 335,000 on the clock (original engine) and never missed a beat ,I was hoping to keep it running for another 150K.

dash warming lights acting up is classic abs
simply unplug the harness from the abs module
car is fine to drive like this but abs will not function

Thanks lout, so do you think If I replace the ABS module problem will go away? Or its a solution to turn off the dash lights untill I find the main problem?
Does it have anything to do with bad earth or ABS module is faulty?
EDIT: just Disconnected the ABS module, dash lights go away but the other issues are still present.

well thats one fault diagnosed you will need an abs module
now for the bcm fault
there is an orange with black stripe wire going into bcm pin 6
measure voltage on this wire if you can get hold of a multimeter
or bare a bit of insulation on this wire and hotwire this wire to a fused battery positive
fyi fault 31 and 92 are most likely caused because bcm is not sending info to ecu
which can be caused by a short on the data line (faulty abs)
or by faulty bcm

Thank you so much Lout, problem solved! ABS module was the main issue. I was about to sell the car for $150 to a Wrecker and now my car is back on the road.
