i used a 22 open ended, didnt need to spray WD as they werent on that tight.

as dirb said, if you have the tools already, i wouldnt waste money buying more tools.

and if your replacing the old one and its really stuck cut the cable off and slip the ring end over the entire o2 sensor :p

But yea i've only ever used a spanner for every o2 i've ever changed including a few VEs

i ordered the post cat o2 sensors on the weekend.

i was under the impression they were Bosch, because it listed the Bosch PN, but turns out after some messages - they are just a generic.

but for 2x sensors, its very cheap if you're on a budget and cars running like junk.

either way i thought i would list the Bosch Part Number in case someone needs it, and what model they suit.

change the post o2 sensors this arvo. not as bad as the front ones, but still look clogged.

passenger side against the new one. hard to tell, but theres alot of build up on the old sensor.

20160916_144638.jpg

olds compared to each other - you can see the holes are smaller on the left one which if you reflect to first page, is the same side the dead pre cat sensor was on

20160916_145548.jpg

the aftermarket ones were extra long which was good because (refer next picture)

20160916_144729.jpg

the originals sorta just sat there and dangled in the breeze. if i ran over a stick it could potentially pull and rip the cables.

old - left. new - right

20160916_145311.jpg

so i tucked them behind the head shield best i could

20160916_150019.jpg

took it for a test drive, placebo affect was nice. felt clean, but they worked and at a cheaper price.

hope this helps!

Apologies for jumping on an old thread but I'm at a loss. I have an '05 VZ LS1

I have a horrible idle, car stalls when coming to a stop, no failure logs in the computer, no lights on the dash. I have cleaned the MAF and throttle body, replaced plugs and leads ( this seemed to fix the issue for about a week and then the issue returned).

Researching O2 sensors has been super confusing. My workshop manual says I only need two, but reading up on parts and threads like this, people say it needs 4. I physically looked at the car, saw the two pre cat O2, but the post cat sensors are not there. I see the holes that should have them but they are blocked off and have a tac weld keeping it closed.

Should I look at opening the holes up and having new sensors installed and replace the pre cat ones as well? Just do the pre cat ones? Will I potentially need to have the car tuned again? Now that the issue has returned after replacing the plugs, should I replace them again assuming they are fouling?

VY's have 2 O2 sensors VZ have 4. If you have an aftermarket exhaust they can "turn off" the post cat O2 sensors in the custom tune. The sensors themselves are plug and play, wont need to adjust the tune for the sensor replacement. Have you got a scan tool? Like this one https://www.envyouscustoms.com/diagnostics/diagnostic-kits/elm327-cable/ . You can have real time feedback of the O2 sensor voltage. As per VY service manual at idle and at operating temp; millivolt signal should vary between 0.1 - 0.9 mV. Iv got an issue at the moment where there is no change (see 02B1SS2 - 0.445) in one of my sensors, so im guessing stuffed sensor. Just purchased new pair over the weekend, expected Thursday.

Yours has obviously had the post cat sensors removed and turned off in the computer which is a bonus for you because you don’t ever need to worry about buying new ones, as for the pre cat sensors definitely worth replacing them mate it’s easy enough to do your best bet would be genuine Bosch sensors don’t need to worry about tuning your car either once you fix your issue whether that be your o2 sensors or something else your car will run fine again

Well nobody really gives you any good advice on how to change the driving side o2 sensor,as the passenger side is a piece of cake, jack up car use stands then take out bolts to gearbox crossmember lower jack giving you a tiny bit more room, the wiring harness is clipped to the side top of gearbox break clip off also, above passenger side sensor there is another on corner of engine there is a clip break that as it's plastic, then the wiring harness will have alot of slack to let the plug then dangle down to change, without too much trouble alot of different ideas, taking manifold, somebody says take cat off exhaust anyhow just hoping to make things easier for the next bloke who gets stuck cheers
