I think the "Black Editions" theme was invented by Mercedes Benz for the AMG versions with exclusive 'phwaaoor' go faster bits.
Now every manufacturer seems to have a Black Edition which can be duplicated by a rattle can of black gloss or matt paint by Fred Everage.
