Here is a space to chat about your 355" build (specifically).
Post pictures, and chat about different options. (Similar to bjf66 350 build thread).
Yes it's all been done before, but it's good to have a current chat about 355" things as the world changes.

Off topic chat will be reported/removed.

After a week or so of to and fro, today I have ordered the scat SBC journal crank over the COME racing crank.
Also ACL 2thou undersize cam bearings.

Next decision is which 4bolt kit to order, and where to buy scat 6" rods with 7/16 arp2000 bolts from.

Also increased block oil feed hole radius this weekend.

I am considering running a drill bit down that hole also though.

VEGTS BUILT BLOWN E85
could be same as what i noticed with the oil holes on my LS as the factory just drills straight so a 90 deg turn is two straights with a sharp inner corner, i got a dremel down in there and took out all the sharp edges and corners smoothed out helps the most

May as well start adding the details of mine too

Starting with a virgin VS stroker clearanced block the build will be as follows

Bottom end:
* Scat 9000 355 Crank.
* Scat I beam rods.
* Flat top pistons with 5cc reliefs.
* Chev rear seal conversion.
* ARP Main studs.
* ACL race bearings
* RTS high volume sump and high energy pickup.
* Powerbond race balancer.
* Ported and relieved JP standard volume oil pump.
* All the usual TK block oiling mods.
* Rotating assembly supplied and balanced by Pavtek Performance.
* Machining by Knight Engines.
* Build and tuning by me.

Top End:
* Standard EFI heads, slightly ported, machined for positive valve seals, standard valves and decked 0.040" to approx 57cc
* 234/244 108LSA Hydraulic cam.
* Matching valve springs and chrome moly retainers.
* Yella Terra 1.65 roller rockers (Non adjustable hence the big hydraulic cam instead of a solid, I couldn't justify replacing my set of $800 rockers that are only a couple of years old).
* Cometic 0.027" MLS head gaskets.
* ARP head studs.
* Edelbrock RPM Air gap dual plane manifold + EFI Hardware 750CFM 4bbl throttle body.

Driveline:
4l60E + 3500RPM converter.
3.7 LSD

Rough calculations show an approximate compression ratio of around 11:1 with my heads and gasket choice so it should be a nasty little street engine. It's a pretty basic I beam/2 bolt main combo as it's not going to be seeing RPM past 6k. If I can make it into the 12's (even 12.99) without needing to spray it I'll be a happy man, but I am willing to give it a sneaky 100 shot to get it into the 11's once I'm confident with the combo and the tune etc (hence going overboard on quality head gaskets, bearings, head studs etc).

Blocks currently at Knight Engines having the machine work done (Bore, hone, deck, line bore, oiling mods, acid wash), and will be getting bolted together over winter ready to have car ready for the spring/summer cruise season.

Could you please talk more of why you made the choice?

I'm thinking of stroking my VS, I'm looking at the SCAT gear over the COME gear due to price only.

Can't speak for Deuce but the cost was my main driver for mine.

My entire 355 kit from Pavtek (crank, rods, pistons, rings, bearings, balancer, flexplate) was around $3200 balanced and shipped to my door.

Yea been looking at them for a kit too.
I'm also looking at their CNC heads, but I'm not sure 355ci is enough cubes for their race heads.

They were great to deal with, can't recommend them enough.

I much preferred to pay a performance shop like them to just kit it all for me so I know everything like bearings etc are all right for the application etc, takes the guess work out.

Yeah their heads are a serious bit of kit.

I think when I did the math on them a 355 needs to hit like 7,800rpm to make them worth the extra air flow, that's for their race head port, they have smaller ports available.
