Thanks to everyone who has replied so far, I appreciate the answers.

Had to put a slight bend in a piece of 8mm steel rod, needed heat.
Thought about using the gas burner on the stove, but it's too far from the vice in the garage.
Had to resort to this little bugger...

First attempt ran out of gas. Had to refill, then used a full tank before it went red.

Ahh, should've shouted out.
Have some of those smaller MAPP and Propane bottles you could've tried if thats all you needed it for.

As for brazing i was more referring to the below links kind of stuff.
Would Oxy-LPG work for that kind of thing?

VE Series I SS Ute
Since returning my oxy bottle a few years ago after I used 1/4 of a D size I think it was in about five years and paying a stack of rent I've just been using MAP torch. I've only needed to heat things and the MAP has sufficed in that.

It was hot enough to get my exhaust glowing so I could tap a dent in it so it stopped rubbing on my rear coupling.

The hoses for the oxy kit perished and I scored some brand new BOC stocked ones for $20 on FB.
Need to price up a bottle again now you can get them without paying ongoing rental charges.

Dad got sick of the rental charges to BOC, so stopped using them when the bottles ran out. He was too crook at that stage to do any work in the workshop.

Total Tools have D sized Oxy bottles for $329 initial cost, then $89 change over.
Little bit cheaper for my Argon and Argon/CO2 D bottles, Acetylene is much more expensive.
They have Unimig Oxy/LPG 5m hoses for $64 and an LPG regulator for $65.

seems a bit exxie

I am paying BOC $69 a year for my D size Oxy (a fill lasts me about 2 years)
so cheaper than Total Tools says my calculator

oh .. and a 9Kg swap and go LPG at the local servo last time was $29 (which is cheaper than Bunnings)
