VZ Crewman, VZ Cross 8, & ya mum.
Nothing on here about this so far.
Our house is torn between England and Australia on Wednesday nights game.

Now three wins away from another PM saying something like this:

All team shirts are sold out.
Found one place selling them for nearly $200.

The top three most viewed sporting events have been women’s sporting events.

4.5million watched the other night. Wednesday Aus v Eng will be even more.

Can’t wait.

Would love see some other links to the huge moment.

So much of it is hard to share.

After the game on Saturday one of my daughters asked me the same question.

The Matildas for me. If England win, I will obviously go for them in the final.

I think it will be good for the profile of Australian soccer if the girls win, and hopefully more Aussies will get on board and support the World Game.

Soccer has long been suppressed by too many Aussies, especially Melbournians who fear that the game of soccer may take over Aussie Rules in popularity.

Those amongst the higher echelons of the sporting media have continually been negative about soccer here in Melbourne for years, and continually highlight the not so good things in soccer, such as the use of flares and crowd violence which is extremely minimal as a percentage over all. When they should be highlighting the joy and happiness it brings billions of people across the world.

Bruce McAvaney, a revered sports commentator here in Australia, likened the atmosphere at the Matildas games amongst the best sporting events he has attended, highlighting specifically the joy amongst the crowds. Female soccer and sports in general has a lot to offer. It brings a different type of crowd together with a lot less animosity.

Surely this event has to be good for Australian soccer as a nation? After all, it seems to be that way in every other country in the world:)

Where I live in Perth, as many English and Scottish accents as Aussie ones.

Soccer is talked about more than Aussie rules.

Local schools, it’s all soccer and basket ball. AFL plays second fiddle at lunch.

I've never knocked Aussie rules, and greatly admire the uniqueness of the game. Some people should understand that Aussie rules and soccer are entirely different games and therefore not comparable.

I wasn't really into it at the start because of all the pride bullshit and propaganda. It seemed all the media was worried about was the players sexuality. I pushed all that to one side and have been really enjoying the game with the extended family so much that I lost my voice after the penalty shootout.

Can't wait for Wednesday night. This is great at this time when interest rates, cost of living and everything else that has turned to ****
