Hey all, I’ve got SL lowering springs all round on my vf ss. Recently got done for being too low… The car itself is not too low, it’s in fact Holden’s stupid exhaust design. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone has any experience chucking a few spacers/wooden blocks cut to fit and slip in the suspension to chock it up momentarily - just to pass at vicroads. Need to clear about 15mm to pass. Cheers

wooden blocks...? spacers?
no way you will get a roadworthy to appease Vicroads
(these are specifically listed as illegal/outlawed in a lot of vehicle regs)

put the std SS springs in, get the roadworthy, pass Vicroads and
... well you takes ya chances if you go back

In ACT it would pass, in VIC obviously the govco has stupid ruels.
That whole ground clearance thing is outdated.

Blocks of timber in the suspension to lift it would pass in the ACT...

We all know who has the stupid rules allowing that and it ain't VIC

This forum needs more humour like this.

In SA when examining interstate cars for SA rego, they use eyebrow heights, the distance between the wheel centre and top of the guard. Anything lower than 385mm on a VF Commodore is rejected. Sometimes with the right examiner, they'll pass 380mm at the rear but not necessarily.

Then save your cash for a set of height adjustable coilovers.

When I was a youngen, I learnt to change the exhaust on my HX Ute from the extractors back, from a dual system with two hotdogs to a single with a factory muffler in about 20 minutes.

Defect off, loud exhaust back on, all in one morning.

Too low, is a vicroads visit and the clerk will only grab the height bar and run it under the car to check.

you may pass with the rubber spring spacers. But it's a gamble if you get someone with half knowledge on tricks to pass.
shopping

Best to replace the springs and you'll have no issues.
