Lol. Spoke too soon. Coffee machine karked it last week. Just ordered another one online. Same model ‘Sunbeam Barista’ $269.

As an aside, when needing new appliances try ‘Appliances Online’ They are very competitive and delivery is free. I've gotten a couple of things from them now.
Lol. So, got my new machine on 8th December. It shat itself on Wednesday just gone. Got online straight away to, ‘Appliances Online’ and provided the previous order number and a new replacement rocked up this morning. Happy, but now sceptical.

I've got a Rancilio Silva i picked up second hand cheap. Not sure it's all running as it should be. Usually blasts out, giving me way too quick a shot. Steamer also seems too strong.

I've adjusted grind but it seems like I have to go finer than I should be (setting ~5/20 on a Sunbeam, EM0480). Maybe the grinder burrs are worn though. Any good recommendations for machine servicing in inner melb?

Anyone use aldi beans? I do as they're too cheap too ignore and seem OK (compared to the crap from coles my office uses), and I feel my coffee is more limited by my barista abilities than the roasters.
You might be very surprised how much the beans effect the speed of the shot. Most supermarket beans are way more than 1 month old which is about the limit for good coffee, no matter how fine you grind them. Buy a kilo bag of very fresh beans from a roaster, max 1 week old and compare the shots you make once you dial them in.

How many people are near bean roasters. Surely they would be few and far between?

They are pretty common around Melbourne metro area, and I suspect are pretty common elesewhere.

If all else fails, sign up to Coffee Snobs who are based in Geelong but post out via AusPost. They publish their toasting schedule so you can order from the up coming roast batch.

We have a roaster coffee shop in Launceston but the coffee is not nice which doesn't inspire me to buy their products. Some of the nicest coffee I've tasted was a brand found in Robe SA. I can't remember the brand as it was over 15 years ago when I bought it. Might be worth buying coffee online though. The one we get at Coles is pretty good but definitely better ones our there. Coles and WW is convenient and is on half price special about once a month.

There was another really nice one sold at Foodland years ago. It was something like Jahavva I can't remember the name. When I tried to find it the Foodland I bought it from didn't stock it anymore.

I think the brand Foodland used to sell might be called Monjava?
