[VR-VS] How To Fix A VN-VS Boot Water Leak

It's a shame none of the pictures show up, and I at least, don't even get the links as described by kopper69. However, I have found a way to retrieve the original images via the Internet Archive. See here ...

[VT-VX] Replacing engine mounts on a VX Ecotec - in detail

It was time to replace the collapsed engine mounts on my VX. I read a few How-To's for guidance, with this one being the most help : https://forums.justcommodores.com.au/threads/changing-engine-mounts-ecotec-v6-the-easy-way.187855/ I initially tried the "stubby ring spanner" approach from...

[VT-VX] VS - VY Series 2 Inlet Manifold Gasket Replacement 6hr+ (Includes Pics)

Firstly, where the OP states "I could see I had a small leak near cylidner [cylinder] 1 - 3", I suppose that this leakage was happening underneath the gasket, right? (Because otherwise it's too subtle for me to tell from the pictures, if there is visible sign of leakage on the upper face of the...

How to change the battery in the key remote?

Not true. When the key is inserted in the lock/reader, it is then powered by the lock/reader via the ring/stud contact (data+power) and the key blade (ground). The battery is only ever used when you are actually pressing one of the keys. Joe.

How to change the battery in the key remote?

Ummm ... I'd believe that (the spot welding to the PCB) when I see it. Joe.

[General] [VR/VS/VT/VX/VY/VZ] Everything to know about ALDL Diagnostic Cables

Thanks, TazzI. Yeah, it's odd that this supposed problem isn't mentioned anywhere else that I can find. The circuit mention is the "Techedge" circuit, and this guy used to make a USB adaptation of their circuit. However, something holding down the bus doesn't explain this either, since the...

[General] [VR/VS/VT/VX/VY/VZ] Everything to know about ALDL Diagnostic Cables

Hi TazzI, Here's something weird I came across in an old thread : https://forums.justcommodores.com.au/threads/diy-ecu-scantools-data-cables.19665 Have you heard of such a thing before? I can't find any other source for this information (misinformation?) and haven't had any such issues from...

Jeremy Clarkson Has Been Suspended From “Top Gear”

Ummm ... I've seen them present the car twice (second time was an updated version or whatever). They DID make a big thing about its Australian roots! Joe.

Well, I'll just quote my Gregory's for VS : Flywheel/driveplate bolts: First stage ... 18-22 Nm Second stage - except Series 2 manual ... plus 47-53 degrees Second stage - Series 2 manual trans. ... plus 80-90 degrees HTH some. Joe.

    Statesman 1998 vs starting problems

You could be right. When I had under-voltage (due to a faulty alternator regulator), my airbag light would sometimes come on. At first I thought I had a clock spring problem (it seemed to respond to steering input), but once I discovered and fixed the under-voltage problem, the airbag indicator...

Please HELP!! VX Commodore 2001 Auto V6 All Warning Lights Flashing!!!

Except for a 5 second period after starting the car (as I recall), pin 9 is also linked via a relay in the BCM to the remaining ALDL modules. Joe.

Please HELP!! VX Commodore 2001 Auto V6 All Warning Lights Flashing!!!

Good to hear you've got this one on the ropes! I guess the mechanic just checked the voltage on OBD pin 16, the check of pin 9 voltage may have revealed/suggested the ECU/PCM was unpowered (although I wonder if the BCM would have supplied voltage on that pin anyway). Joe.

Please HELP!! VX Commodore 2001 Auto V6 All Warning Lights Flashing!!!

I believe a VX V6 has ALDL only, no CAN. On the one hand, his mechanic says the OBD voltages are correct (which would mean no short circuit), on the other hand, neither ALDL comm's nor the "paperclip" work. Kinda contradictory, so I wonder if the mechanic really knows his way around an OBD1...

Please HELP!! VX Commodore 2001 Auto V6 All Warning Lights Flashing!!!

Interesting you can't get CEL flash codes when you short pins 5 & 6 of the OBD connector. Is this true for the replacement PCM and BCM, as well as the originals? Also, are you able to measure the voltage between pins 4/5 & 9 of the OBD connector (ignition off)? It should be about 5V. While...

    DIY: ECU Scantools/Data Cables

It's a bit late for an answer, but at least I can help regarding the pinning : 4/5 is ground, 9 is data. But OTOH, that info's easy to find, so I wonder how much (if any) effort you put into this ... ? Joe.

Would converting my Holden VY S II from Automatic to Manuakl make a difference?

Well, you (the driver) know in advance which way you want to shift, whereas the auto tries to figure out from your inputs. Often it guesses wrong and you have to wait for it to right itself, like when you want to accelerate immediately after a quick dab of the brakes. Irritating! So you can be...

[General] [VR/VS/VT/VX/VY/VZ] Everything to know about ALDL Diagnostic Cables

Exactly. Unless the ALDL cable has been specifically designed for 12V signal levels, at the very best, you'd be injecting current into the static protection diodes of the UART-USB bridge chip's RX input via some series resistor, potentially overstressing it and even your PC. You'd better check...
