Looking at replacing power steering pump on the VN V6 and there seems to be a lot of no name brands about.
Anyone have a recommendation on what wont be junk?
Me again with more fun of dailying a VN.
Last night on the highway I had a bit of a noise at 110k and battery light etc so pulled over.
Power steering pulley bolts had worked loose a bit and caused the belt to shred.
Tightened bolts back up and rigged up what was left of belt to try and limp...
So after my previous woes with the TPS and changing the throttle body and TPS over to fix it, last night I started getting a CEL while driving home, However it was only showing CEL when I wasn't touching throttle (like rolling downhill on highway etc)
I would hear a noticeable change in intake...
More fun with the VN at the moment, have been dailying it the last week and it had been running ok bar the occasional stalling issue on first start of the day.
However today driving down the road from my housethe whole engine cut out. It then proceeded to stall again idling at a set of lights...
So few weeks back the alternator died on the VN so I ordered a new Bosch unit (complete with reg)
I did strip down the old one and have a quick clean to no avail, bushes on the reg were very worn.
However installed the new one today, battery light still on, no charge at idle (sits at low 12's...
Not a major issue but figured I'd rack some brains here
VN S1 V6 stalls on first start of the day.
Kicks over instantly and fires up nicely but then after a second it starts chugging and stalls.
I have already replaced a bunch of sensors just because the car is getting a full refresh so I am...
Recently done a bunch of Brake work to my VN V6
New front calipers, pads and discs
New rear pads and discs
New Master Cylinder (went up to 1 inch)
Braided lines to replace the old flexi hoses.
I did originally bench bleed the master (didn't have proper kit so used a fluid syringe to bleed)...
Came across this randomly browsing marketplace, picked it up for 3k as it wasn't running ( no spark) and the plan is to "restore" it to original spec but with a few nice improvements to make it a bit nicer to drive. Was originally a fleet car in SA before going to and old lady who recently lost...
2010 Land Rover Discovery 4
2.7 TDV6
Air suspension, Terrain Response, Roof Rack, LED Lightbars, Enough comm gear to make a HWP car jealous, Enough cameras to make Channel 9 jealous. Just a boring old daily for the most part.
So the Land Rover wasn't really doing the job I needed as a daily driver (Loud, Tough to drive in traffic, No boot space due to 4X4 Shelving) so naturally I got a second car so the Landy can be retired to 4x4ing and weekends away.
What I ended up with was a 2010 Audi A4 1.8T Petrol.
Really...

I really don't see the big deal, I think doctors certs in most cases are just a waste of time. And I have had employers in the past where they will always demand one, If I have a cold, the last thing I...
AT LEAST 40 people are dead in Paris, according to French media, after a shootout in a restaurant and an explosion in a bar, as reports emerge of a hostage situation at a concert hall and shots being fired at a shopping centre.
Police officials in France on Friday reported a shootout in a Paris...
So went away for the long weekend doing some 4X4ing and camping.
Yesterday we wanted to go for a swim so we were driving around Lake Macquarie trying to find a nice spot and eventually found a trail that lead to the beach Fairly Standard dirt trail that looked well used. So after a few hours...
Roads should be treated like racetracks:
You have to qualify to participate.
Less crashes and deaths on racetracks than public roads.
Everyone travels at maximum speed to suit conditions.
Being a **** results in penalties.
All the cars are roadworthy.
Slow cars are eliminated.
The...

Going to make it illegal to park legally now. That'll show em.....
Gotta to love the "Don't speed you wont get caught" brigade are jumping on this when what these people are doing doesn't have anything to do with speeding.
My little project Tinny.
Sea-al Supa Skua 3.7m
15hp Mariner 2 stroke Outboard
Picked up the boat and motor for $1250
Put a couple hundred into some paint and odd bits.

What do you lot think, should people have more access to tools of self defense?
In N.S.W it is illegal to carry a knife without good cause, even in your car,
I have one in my car because frankly I'd rather have one and never need it then need it and not have it, all else fails i have an...

Mental note mechanics, might wanna turn the cam off next time.
Apparently the owner was offered $4000 by ACA to do a story but they decided not to ruin the mechanic.
